2028 hopefuls backpedaling on Biden claims
The last couple of weeks have not been good for Joe Biden in terms of the reports on his mental cognizance.
Now, some Democrats are seeking to apologize or walk back their comments, but not all of them.
Seeking Atonement
In February 2024, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) stated, “I know that he is ready for this campaign. I have seen how effective he has been up close and personal.”
Murphy has since changed his story, now saying there is “no doubt” that Biden was showing signs of mental decline.
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) was a Biden advisory board member, but now, he too is stating, “Our party made a mistake, including the dozens of us who campaigned for him for re-election."
It is rather funny watching the people who all claimed to have been close to Biden at the time now say they were being deceived by the Biden administration.
Could Have Served
While these politicians are trying to save their seats, Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) remains loyal to Biden.
When Clyburn was asked if he thought Biden could have served a second term, he responded, “Yes, I thought that back then. I still think that, but I don’t know that.”
He added, “I watched that debate, and you and I talked about it. And, yes, I was concerned. Now, the question is, is this a condition or is this an incident?”
After sounding like he wanted to blame Biden’s debate performance on his busy schedule leading up to the debate, he added, “I have talked to people, talked to students. And people still feel that Joe Biden had the capacity to do the work that needed to be done. They still feel that Joe Biden was a good president. And I do as well.”
Democrat Presidential Hopefuls Backtracking on Support of Biden
I believe that Khanna is a dark horse for the 2028 race, and we have his comments above, but he is far from alone in possible presidential candidates who are looking to distance themselves from Biden.
For instance, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer stated, “As a governor in a state halfway across the country … I was busy working. I didn’t see the president frequently. And I can tell you, I can’t speak to that directly.” Yet, during the campaign, she had stated she had “confidence in him” and he was “ready to go.”
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro stated, “I was very frank with the president during his campaign about what I saw were some of the shortcomings. I was very honest with him in a private setting about that.” Yet, in real time, Shapiro was telling Democrats to “stop worrying” about Biden.
This was all a coordinated coverup, as Jake Tapper reported in his new book on the subject, “Original Sin.” Somehow, Tapper managed to put a book together in three months after not reporting on this for more than two years. In his book, aides and cabinet officials told Tapper, “For months, we didn’t have access to him. There was clearly a deliberate strategy by the White House to have him meet with as few people as necessary.” And somehow we are to believe that nobody ever said a word about this to the media. I am not buying it, and I believe history will judge this as one of the biggest coverups in presidential history.
