House Oversight Committee Wants to Investigate Secret Service Failures

Now that we know Trump is okay, it is time to figure out what went wrong.

The finger-pointing has already started, with the Secret Service throwing shade at local police.

The House Oversight Committee is now intervening, calling on the Director of the Secret Service to appear before the committee to explain how a breakdown in security like this could possibly occur.

How Did This Happen?

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) wants answers and he wants them now.

He penned a letter to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to account for the security breakdown at Trump’s rally.

Comer wrote, "Today, President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt when a gunman fired a weapon at him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

"At least one bystander is dead."

The letter continued, “The tremendous bravery of the individual United States Secret Service agents who protected President Trump, eliminated the gunman, and possibly averted more loss of life cannot be overstated.

"The Committee on Oversight and Accountability has initiated an investigation into today's assassination attempt on President Trump and requests your voluntary appearance at a full Committee hearing on July 22, 2024."

Homeland Security has also requested an official briefing on the matter.

I have a feeling there will be plenty of blame to go around, but to this point, the SS Director has been defiant, refusing to take any blame for the assassination attempt.

When push comes to shove, Trump's safety is her responsibility, not anyone else’s. This woman should be fired immediately, as should anyone involved in the security planning that day.
