Supreme Court Blocks Missouri Effort to Delay Sentencing in Bragg Case

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey was trying to show Trump loyalty by filing a motion to delay Trump’s sentencing hearing.

The motion was arguably doomed from the outset because Missouri and Bailey have no standing to file such a suit.

To that point, the Supreme Court rejected Bailey’s motion to have the sentencing trial of Donald Trump delayed.

Not Today

Trump was convicted of 34 counts of business fraud in New York in the hush money case brought by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.

I am not sure why Bailey thought this would be successful, as to me, it just seems like he was making a play to get Trump’s attention.

The court rightly rejected the motion, to which Bailey responded, "It’s disappointing that the Supreme Court refused to exercise its constitutional responsibility to resolve state v. state disputes.

"I will continue to prosecute our lawsuit against @KamalaHarris @JoeBiden’s DOJ for coordinating the illicit prosecutions against President Trump."

Bailey’s argument centered around a coordinated effort between Bragg’s office and the DOJ, arguing, "Given the timing (Bragg charged Trump only after Trump declared his candidacy for President), the transparent weakness of the charges, and the effect the charges have in keeping Trump off the campaign trail, there is substantial reason to suspect the Biden administration has coordinated with Bragg and others to bring prosecutions against Trump.”

Unless something changes, Trump’s sentencing will take place in September, the same time that Trump was supposed to have debated Biden on ABC News.

With Biden out, Trump has stated he will only debate Harris on Fox News, while Harris is now portraying Trump as a coward for backing out of the ABC News debate.

Trump is still amid the appeals process in the Bragg case, so even if he is sentenced to jail, which is unlikely, he would more than likely not be required to serve his time until after the appeals process plays out.

I still believe that Trump will either win the case outright on appeal or have any penalties issued in the case significantly reduced.
