Prosecutors Oppose Hunter Biden Motion to Delay Sentencing

Hunter Biden was hoping to have his sentencing in the gun charges trial pushed back.

That, however, is unlikely to happen.

Prosecutors oppose delaying the sentencing, which is currently scheduled for November 13.

Need More Time

Hunter’s legal team is claiming they need about two additional weeks to put together presentencing materials, asking for an 11-day extension.

Hunter just pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges, but the plea deal on that has yet to be announced.

Hunter told the court that he was taking the deal to avoid embarrassing his family because all his dirty laundry was about to be exposed.

The reason Hunter was not paying his taxes was because he was living a rather lavish life drinking, doing drugs, and spending thousands on expensive escorts on a fairly regular basis.

Defense attorney Abbe Lowell, when hearing that prosecutors objected, stated that they may believe that Hunter waited too long to file the extension, but then he added that not granting the extension would “jeopardize Mr. Biden’s right to a fair sentencing hearing.”

Special Counsel David Weiss has stiffened up against Biden ever since Lowell tried to embarrass prosecutors after the judge shot down the original plea agreement.

Weiss was bending over backward to help Biden, but he has since held the line, even though I highly doubt he will go for an excessive sentence in this case.

Hunter is a first-time offender, so I suspect he will get probation and a fine, or, at worst, some house arrest time.

That could also be why Weiss is not willing to delay the case. He just wants to have the sentence issued and get this case over with and out of the news cycle during the election, where it is likely to disappear within a day or so.
