Donald Trump McDonald’s ‘Work’ Day Has Media, Dems Fuming
Who knew that when Donald Trump agreed to “work” at a McDonald’s for a day, everyone would get so uptight?
This was clearly a campaign stunt, but the media Democrats are now fuming at the “staged” event, and they are getting torched for it.
The Event
After Kamala Harris claimed to work for McDonald’s, Donald Trump threw shade on the claim and decided to have a little fun with it. Trump arranged to “work” at a local McDonald’s in Pennsylvania.
The event was a big hit, but, of course, everyone there was vetted. What ended up happening was that a local store shut down to regular traffic, and the Secret Service vetted the people coming through the drive-thru.
For an event like this, there is nothing unusual about it. As a matter of fact, Harris had a diner emptied out earlier this year and filled with her own people during a staged event, and nobody ever said a word about it.
Media Outraged
CNN’s Briant Stelter wanted to make sure that everyone knew the event was staged, posting on X, "For security reasons, Trump's McDonalds [sic] visit was carefully staged ahead of time, with drive-through [sic] customers selected and screened by Secret Service, etc.” I guess he thought he had some major scoop that would hurt Trump, but all he drew was ridicule online.
NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck was among those throwing shade at Stelter, responding, "Um, yes, that's how it works for presidents and Secret Service protectees especially those who've had two people nearly murder him this year.”
Rapper Azealia Banks also chimed it, responding, “Trump literally just threw Kamala Harris McDonald’s birthday party. That is FUNNY. His Pr should have been smart enough to do it in Oakland, CA in full Honor of her birthday. @elonmusk should have personally footed the bill to avoid campaign fund misuse allegations and literally…”
She then said a few other things to her detractors, but they are not family-friendly.
JD Vance Chimes In
As he has done throughout this campaign, JD Vance immediately stuck up for Trump, mocking the faux outrage over the event being staged, responding, “The fact that these people are accusing him of a ‘stage-managed’ thing… of course, the president has to have security because there have been two attempts on his life in the last eight weeks. He can't just walk into a McDonald's and sign a W-9 and actually go on the payroll. That's just not how this works, especially given the security threats on his life."
"But look, he was interacting with people," Vance said. "He was talking to the employees. He was giving people food, and he was just [doing] I think what he does best, which is just being among the people, talking to them about what they care about. He showed genuine interest in the employees and their lives and where they came from and what they were actually doing in their job, and that's something you can't stage, and you can't fake."
Vance hit the nail on the head here. The people being served may have been vetted, but they were real people who were excited to see Trump.
More to the point, Trump was very much in his element here, and it is just not something you could ever imagine Harris doing without coming off as a fraud.
This has always been Trump’s strength in that he is a billionaire who has somehow convinced a hair over half this country he is just one of us.
