Facebook Temporarily Blocked Trump-Tyrus Interview
I can tell you firsthand that conservatives were being censored by social media almost immediately after Trump took office, and those efforts were turned up a few notches in 2020.
Well, it has started again, with Facebook censoring an interview between Donald Trump and Fox News contributor Tyrus before complaints were filed.
Maintaining with Tyrus
Donald Trump loves to exaggerate figures, and he did it again in this interview with Fox News contributor and Outkick personality Tyrus. For example, at one point in the interview, Donald Trump claimed that after the FBI adjusted its figures, violent crime went up by “45 percent.” The actual figure is 4.5%, so Trump seemed to conveniently forget a decimal point.
That aside, there was no reason to block this interview, as much of it centered on Tyrus’ opinion of Trump and how he came to form his current opinion.
For instance, at one point, Tyrus discusses watching Donald Trump speak to his young daughter, spending about 20 minutes with her, saying it just as easily could have been her grandfather talking to her.
The interview did what Democrats and the liberal media hate, and that is that it made Trump look human instead of the orange monster they want everyone to believe he is. It also made Trump more attractive to young black male voters, another taboo for Democrats and the media, which is why I believe the video was initially censored.
Block Him
Outkick reported that when it first went to share the video on Facebook, it received a notice that the video violated its rules. A notice popped up, stating, "Your content couldn't be shared because this goes against our Community Standards." This was not a one-time thing, either, as numerous people tried to share the video only to be met with the same message.
When Outkick contacted Facebook, the only explanation they were given was that the message was “an error” and that it would be corrected. Eventually, the “error” was fixed, and the video was able to be placed on Facebook. However, there is no reason to believe that had Outkick not reached out to Facebook, the social media network would have blocked the video for some unknown reason.
Now, a decade ago, I would have called that a crazy conspiracy theory, but I have lived through the censorship, making posts with no reach, and having been put in the penalty box by both Facebook and Twitter for having made posts the platforms did not like. Rest assured, they were always factual, as I do not believe in promoting fake news, but they were clearly very strong conservative opinions, so I was shut down.
Not the First Time
As noted above, this is far from the first time that this has happened, and it was on turbo power during the 2020 election and the early days of the Biden administration. Once again, we refer back to Outkick for having been censored.
Outkick interviewed Donald Trump in August 2020 and tried to share the interview online. The outlet experienced much of what I had seen in the past, with Facebook just crushing its reach and not circulating the article to its fans on Facebook, fans the outlet had likely paid millions in advertising to accumulate.
Clay Travis testified before Congress after it happened, stating, “The day after that interview, Facebook tanked our traffic. [A move that] cost my company hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
We saw the same thing happen with the Hunter Biden laptop story, which was blocked based on a letter from 51 former intelligence officials who never saw or examined the laptop but decided it had all the signs of Russian misinformation.
As we know, well after the election, the laptop story was confirmed, but the damage was already done. Two weeks away from the election, and it would appear that the censorship games are starting all over again.
