Harris Keeping Biden at Arm’s Length Down the Stretch
If you noticed these last few weeks, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are never seen together.
This appears to be by design, as Harris and company are trying to keep Biden out of the picture so as not to associate Harris with the last four years.
No Reminders
At every turn, the media and Democrats are telling us all how much better we are today than we were when Trump was in office. Our bank accounts tell us a different story, but Dems say that is all hogwash.
Yet, word on the street right now is that Harris’ aides want her to keep as far away from Joe Biden as possible so as not to remind anyone that she is the current VP. It’s comical. Harris’ entire campaign is built around being the candidate of change, yet she has been the number two in the country for most of the last four years.
In a recent Axios report, one Harris insider stated, “He’s a reminder of the last four years, not the new way forward.”
Doug Sosnik, a veteran Democratic strategist who was a senior adviser to President Bill Clinton, appears to agree that Harris needs to distance herself from Biden at all costs. He recently stated, “If I were running the Harris campaign, the last thing I would want to do is try to make this campaign about Joe Biden. And of course I would not want him out campaigning.”
It’s Not So
Of course, the White House and the campaign immediately pushed back on the story, denying there were any issues here. Yet, as it stands today, Biden and Harris have no campaign events together and from what I have seen, they have only been on the stage together once since the DNC.
The Harris campaign tried to dampen this, with campaign spokesman Ian Sams stating, “Vice President Harris is grateful for President Biden’s support and appreciates that he is campaigning for her.”
White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates addressed the recent report, again stating there is no riff and this is just a coincidence. He stated, “There is always speculation in political circles, but this is not accurate. We are in close touch with the campaign to determine when, where and how the president can be helpful.”
There are also reports that Harris was not happy when Biden said that Trump needed to be locked up during a recent campaign event. In New Hampshire, Biden stated, “Politically, lock him up — lock him out, that’s what we’ve got to do.” Trump’s campaign immediately fired back, saying the slip proved that Biden was weaponizing the DOJ against Trump to block him in this election.
Harris by the Numbers
Harris continues to hold a lead in the national average of all polls, but that has dwindled significantly over the last two weeks. Harris finished up September with a 2.8% lead, and that number is now down to 1.4%. In the two most recent polls, Harris is up by 1% and dead even with Trump.
In the non-Blue Wall states, Trump is holding a 2% lead in Arizona, a 2% lead in Georgia, a 1% lead in Nevada, and a 2% lead in North Carolina. For Trump, his easiest path to victory will be to win North Carolina and Georgia, then a split in Nevada and Arizona, as well as a split in Pennsylvania and Michigan, which we are going to get to right now.
In the Blue Wall states, Donald Trump is holding a 1% lead in Michigan, a 1% lead in Pennsylvania, and a 1% lead in Wisconsin. For Harris, her path of least resistance would be to sweep these three states, landing her right at 270 if the rest of the country falls in line in terms of red and blue states.
At this point, Trump has all the momentum if he can avoid any major mistakes. That, however, seems impossible for his campaign, as Trump is already taking heat for racist jokes made by the comedian that warmed up the crowd at his Madison Square Garden rally in New York. Considering the media and Democrats were likening the rally to the 1939 Nazi rally held at MSG, this was not exactly the wisest choice of entertainers.
