Former Jill Biden Staffer Slams Administration for Fixing Transcript

When Michael LaRosa was serving as Jill Biden's Press Secretary, he ferociously defended the administration.

Now he is turning on them, calling the decision to alter the transcript of Biden's recent "garbage" comments a "bonehead move," but this gets far more serious if you read into his comment.

Garbage Supporters

During Trump's MSG rally, a warmup comedian sparked controversy by calling Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage." Democrats went nuts, and this included Joe Biden.

During a campaign call, Biden stated, "The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His, his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and it's un-American." Biden had a small pause in there, as we have seen before, when he realizes he screwed and tries to correct it on the fly.

When the White House released the transcript of the call, it cleaned up Biden's comments to read, "The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporter's – his – his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it's un-American."

This set the table for Biden to try to explain this away, stating, "Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump's supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage—which is the only word I can think of to describe it. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That's all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don't reflect who we are as a nation."

Not Buying It

While the mainstream media, Democrats, liberal pundits, and the White House scrambled to cover this up, everyone on the right pounced. Here you have people who lose their minds when Trump says something inflammatory about Harris, but when Biden calls Trump supporters garbage, all we hear is what Biden meant to say.

There was one person on the left who did not buy it, that being LaRosa, who posted…

What I latched on to here was "one they've been caught making before." It is illegal to alter transcripts to cover for a president, but he just confessed to that. To that point, there is now a House investigation into the transcription.

Investigate It!

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) and House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) believe the administration violated the Presidential Records Act.

The two of them released a joint letter that stated, "Americans were rightfully insulted when President Biden, seeking to boost Ms. Harris's presidential campaign, referred to an enormous swath of the country as 'floating . . . garbage.'

"President Biden's vindictive words were unsurprising, given his previous statements regarding people who choose not to vote for his preferred candidate. Unsurprising too were the White House's actions after he said them. Instead of apologizing or clarifying President Biden's words, the White House instead sought to change them (despite them being recorded on video) by releasing a false transcript of his remarks. The move is not only craven, but it also appears to be in violation of federal law, including the Presidential Records Act of 1978.

"White House staff cannot rewrite the words of the President of the United States to be more politically on message. Though President Biden's relevance continues to diminish, his words continue to matter, even as they become increasingly divisive and erratic. We write to demand the White House retain and preserve all documents and internal communications regarding President Biden's statement and the release of the inaccurate transcript.  We also demand that the White House issue a corrected transcript with the accurate words."

This is clearly not a good look for the administration. Still, if I were Comer and Stefanik, I would be latching onto that tweet from LaRosa and have a much more extensive investigation to examine all transcripts compared to the comments actually made on tape. I would fast-track it to at least have multiple examples that can be presented before the election to show how many coverups this administration has tried to pull over on the American people on this front. It could be the final straw that tilts this election into a landslide for Trump.
