McEnany Will Not Return… Karoline Leavitt Named White House Press Secretary

I think most of us would agree that Kayleigh McEnany was the most effective White House Press Secretary in modern history.

Many hoped and speculated that she would return with Trump's victory this election, but Trump has named Karline Leavitt to that post.

Always Prepared

McEnany was fearless as the White House Press Secretary.

I can still see that large binder in her arms with Post-it notes stuck into different sections based on the questions she thought she would get on that particular day.

The liberal media hated McEnany because she had no problem calling out their lies, and when they came after her, she just continued to push back.

To that point, as the media continued to complain about her late in Trump’s term, Judd Deere, a White House spokesperson, stated, “Kayleigh is a skilled, savvy communicator who delivers policy positions while vocally defending President Trump against biased, negative media coverage—which she is not afraid to expose when journalists attempt to distort the record.”

The Fallout

McEnany left the White House and made the transition over to Fox News as part of “Outnumbered” as well as being a regular contributor on other shows.

During one segment, McEnany was discussing Trump’s polling numbers compared to DeSantis, and she was very clear that she was using the average of all polls, not one poll in particular.

At the time, Trump was up by 25 on average, which is what she reported, but Trump took exception and went after her right away, posting, “Kayleigh ‘Milktoast’ McEnany just gave out the wrong poll numbers on FoxNews. I am 34 points up on DeSanctimonious, not 25 up. While 25 is great, it’s not 34.”

I have no problem saying that I was furious that Trump would attack McEnany after her loyal service to him, especially because her reporting was accurate, while Donald Trump’s spelling of “milktoast” was not (the word is spelled “Milquetoast”). I was not alone, either, as many of Trump's loyal supporters also criticized him for attacking McEnany like this after her service in this administration.

Not Returning

I was among those hoping that McEnany and Trump would somehow work this out and she would be back as Press Secretary, but it is not to be.

It was announced late last week that Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s campaign press secretary, would be handling the briefings at the White House once Trump takes office. He stated, “Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my Historic Campaign, and I am pleased to announce she will serve as White House Press Secretary.

“Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again.”

Leavitt is making history, of sorts, being the youngest press secretary (she is 27) since Ron Ziegler held the post at 29 years old during the Nixon administration. She will be reporting to Steven Cheung, Trump’s polarizing spokesperson who has been appointed to be Trump’s White House Communications Director once Trump takes office.
