Trump Announces Kash Patel to Replace FBI Director Wray
We all knew that Donald Trump was going to replace FBI Director Wray when he took office.
The wait is over in terms of who Trump will be selecting, as he has named Kash Patel, and it is getting quite the reaction on both sides of the aisle.
Wray Has to Go
Director Wray was appointed by Trump, and he still has several years left in his appointment, but Trump wants to correct one of the biggest mistakes of his first presidency.
So, Wray will be terminated (if he does not resign) and Kash Patel will take his place as long as he can get through the Senate confirmation.
Trump stated, "Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending Justice, and protecting the American People.
"He played a pivotal role in uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, standing as an advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution."
Panic Sets In
I have not hidden the fact that I have my concerns about Patel taking over the FBI as the Director, but I can take some solace in the fact that he has invoked fear in the hearts of the swamp.
For instance, former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe had an absolute meltdown over Patel being named.
He stated, "It's a terrible development for the men and women of the FBI and also for the nation that depends on a highly functioning, professional, independent Federal Bureau of Investigation.
"The fact that Kash Patel is profoundly unqualified for this job is not even, like, a matter for debate."
GOP Loves It
In previous reports, I had stated that I would have preferred Patel to be the Deputy Director given one task... to clean up the agency. That seems to be what most Republicans are focusing on in supporting this pick.
For instance, General Michael Flynn stated, “Kash is America’s choice as Director of the FBI. Accountability is coming. Congratulations and well deserved.”
Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) supported the pick, as did former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who stated, “He’s been on side against some of the worst abuses of the FISA [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] system. Kash Patel can help clean up all the things that we’ve seen that are wrong.”
This pick will face significant resistance among Democrats, and not all Republicans are sold on him, so he will really have to prove himself worthy of the post during the confirmation hearings. But if he is confirmed, the fireworks in the agency are going to start immediately.
