Lara Trump Resigns as RNC Co-Chair Amid Rumors of Senate Appointment

Donald Trump took a lot of heat when he suggested that Lara Trump, his daughter-in-law, co-chair the RNC.

Now, however, she has her sights set on a new position, so she has resigned her RNC chair in the hopes of replacing Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) once he is approved as Trump’s Secretary of State.

Getting the RNC

As noted above, there was a lot of flack given to Trump on both sides of the aisle for keeping it all in the family regarding the RNC.

Lara was hand-picked by Trump because he wanted to make sure the RNC supported his campaign and was focused on voter fraud.

This was Lara Trump’s first post, and she held it only for a few months. Even though it was considered a success, she now believes she is ready for bigger and better things.

Trump has thrown her hat into the ring to replace Rubio, and being the incumbent would surely help her chances of winning the special election to fill the seat.

Picking Lara

When Lara Trump first suggested that she get Rubio’s seat, I had stated that there would have to be some deal making going on in order for DeSantis to even consider Lara as the Rubio replacement.

The whole premise of my narrative was that if Trump gets the Senate seat, she then becomes a favorite for the 2028 election, along with Vance, and we have to assume that DeSantis will also try to run again.

The question then becomes why DeSantis would boost Trump when she is likely to be his competition in 2028?

Now rumors are surfacing that if Hegseth fails to get appointed, Donald Trump will look to Governor DeSantis as his Defense Secretary, so I am thinking those deals have been made.

Resigning Office

There is literally no reason for Lara to resign her post because, rest assured, if she wanted to stay in that position, Trump would have made it happen. So, when she resigned her seat, then immediately started to talk about Rubio’s seat, I could see the writing on the wall. Trump stated, “It is something I would seriously consider.

“If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like. And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that’s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it.”

Trust me… this was not an off-the-cuff remark by Lara Trump because she is dying to get into the political arena to be in position to take higher office once Donald Trump’s term is over. Not to mention that if she is a sitting Senator and a post comes up in the administration, it would probably be easier for Donald to appoint her.

My take will not be a popular one because I do not like politics being a family business. The retort to that is that there are plenty of Democrats with family members who are in politics, and I would answer they are the very people we complain about all the time. I don’t make an exception just because the last name is Trump. If Lara Trump runs for office and is voted in, that is something completely different, but I would prefer for DeSantis not to appoint her to the seat before the special election.
