Musk Appears to Have DOGE Already Aimed at Agency Cuts

It seemed pretty clear to everyone that after Donald Trump won this election, Elon Musk was going to be a part of his administration.

Trump has since announced that Musk will be co-heading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and Elon appears to have an idea of where he will be trimming waste from government spending.

Accountability

If you guys read my reports regularly, you know I am livid about the lack of accountability in our government.

The Pentagon is and has been the biggest culprit of this for decades, which is unfortunate since it has the biggest budget in the government.

Yet, somehow, the Pentagon cannot tell us how many bullets or rifles or other supplies we have in our warehouses, nor has it been able to account for the spending and use of the $1 billion or so in aid we have sent to Ukraine.

DOGE’s account on X also noted how the DoD saw more than $200 billion in fraud as well as another $200 billion in improper payments.

Get to Work

Another big area that will be focused on by DOGE will be government workers.

Not only are they looking to trim down the roster, but they also want to get workers back in the office. And if they don’t do that, then we need to start selling off some buildings.

There are reportedly nearly 8,000 government buildings that are all but empty because the government is allowing most of its workers to work from home. Yet, taxpayers are getting hit with $15 billion yearly in these buildings' leases, mortgages, security, and maintenance.

Musk also pointed out that when you eliminate security and maintenance, there are only about 1% of government workers spending their 40-hour workweek in the office. That is a pretty daunting statistic when considering the government is the biggest employer in the country.

Programs and Equipment

Another area that Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will be looking to cut is expired program funding and tech.

DOGE noted that out of $516 billion that recently went to program spending, $320 billion of that came from programs that had expired, most of them more than a decade ago, but they just reallocating that money rather than handing it back to the American taxpayer.

Musk was personally horrified by the computer equipment our government is using. He also noted that the aging equipment costs the American taxpayer about $100 billion yearly for maintenance and upkeep.

If there is one office that is going to shake the tree, this one will be it. I will be honest… I do not like Ramaswamy one bit, but I am a fan of Musk, so I am very much looking forward to seeing the report and suggested cuts after Trump officially takes office.
