Trump Immigration Adviser Suggests Cutting Sanctuary City Funding

Stephen Miller is one of the few holdovers from Trump’s first administration, and he is hated by the left.

That hate will only grow after Miller suggested the first round of cuts once Trump takes office.

Biden by the Numbers

The last four years have been devastating in terms of illegal crossings.

A conservative estimate on entries into the country is between eight and nine million, but that does not count gotaways, so you can probably increase that number by at least 50%.

Many of these people are now living in sanctuary cities in both red and blue states, which is what Miller would like to cut.

We are literally spending hundreds of millions, if not billions, to care for these individuals, all contributing to even more national debt.

Cut the Funding

Stephen Miller will once again return to DC with Trump as an adviser. He is already suggesting that the GOP-run House and Senate make moves to cut funding for sanctuary cities.

Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX) is on board, stating, “The Republican Study Committee stands ready to deliver on the Trump agenda from day one of the new administration. We’re laser-focused on securing the border and cracking down on illegal immigration.”

If we just look at New York, the city spent $3.75 billion on migrant services, expecting to receive nearly $240 million from the federal government to offset some of those costs (our taxpayer money).

Pfluger added, “We won’t rest until we deliver the toughest border security measures in American history. Our partnership with Stephen Miller and his team will turn Republican priorities into legislative wins in the House.”

Supreme Court and Immigration

I have always had a burning question in regard to sanctuary cities and their existence.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that immigration is a federal issue, with the exception being allowing Texas to enforce its immigration laws when Texas showed the federal government was not performing its duties on this front.

So, if immigration is a federal issue, how can cities simply declare they are sanctuary cities and ignore federal laws in regard to turning over illegal immigrants to immigration authorities?

This is something that I would love to see Trump test the waters in court (again), taking it all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary, solely to get this issue settled once and for all. Based on previous court decisions, I don’t see how the Supreme Court could rule that sanctuary cities are constitutionally protected. (When this issue came before the court during the Trump administration challenging a California sanctuary city, the court rejected the case).
