Top GOP Governors Relegated to Overflow Room During Inauguration

Donald Trump made a pretty powerful statement by who was and was not in the main room with him during his inauguration.

Rather than surround himself with the top GOP governors who helped him win this race, Trump chose tech giants to be by his side, such as Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, relegating some of his top allies to the basement of the Capitol.

Front Row Seats

Front and center at the inauguration were Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of META, Jeff Bezos the founder of Amazon, and Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google. Apple CEO Tim Cook was there, as was CEO of Chinese-owned TikTok, Shou Chew.

Elon Musk was also there, but I give him a pass because he is going to join the Trump administration.

Trump went to war with big tech during his first administration and failed 2020 presidential campaign, yet now the very people he was fighting against are front and center at his inauguration.

This sent a clear message, at least in my eyes, to the very people who backed Trump since 2016 and worked hard to get him elected in 2024.

Down to the Basement

Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have had a rocky relationship since the primary race, but DeSantis has continued to help Trump, both during the election and in vowing to support Trump’s policies once he took office.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has been a bulldog for Trump, along with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

If there were two Republicans governors that deserved to be in the main room, it was those two, yet both were relegated to the Capitol basement and the overflow room, which I am sure was an embarrassing moment for them both as well as a massive flex for Trump.

Trump tried to soften the blow by giving another speech in that room, even stating, “I think this was a better speech than the one I made upstairs. I gave you the A+ treatment!”

Be Careful

Donald Trump, in my opinion, is getting in bed with the wrong people. Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg, Pichai, etc., are all now kowtowing to Trump to protect their businesses, but they will never be loyal to Trump.

This is about protecting their investments from Trump attacks and nothing more.

I would also state these people having influence in our government is exactly what we have been fighting against when Dems were in the White House, constantly pushing back against the influence of people like George Soros.

Are we suddenly going to push that aside because the very people who censored us and silenced us are now buddying up to Trump? Does anyone really think they have suddenly become conservatives and will help our cause?  I don’t like them, and I don’t trust them… but how you feel about this is obviously for you to decide. I would just warn against touting them because I believe all this will eventually come back to hurt Trump and the conservative movement.
