Hegseth starts rotation of media at Pentagon offices

A significant change was recently announced in the mainstream media regarding privileges given at the Pentagon.

Four major media outlets were booted from their office, as the Pentagon announced some major changes in how offices will be secured.

See Ya

Talk about shaking up the mainstream media!

Effective February 14, NBC News, NPR, The New York Times, and Politico will all have to find another place to work on their stories.

The outlets’ offices will be vacated and taken over by One America News Network, Breitbart, New York Post, and HuffPost, respectively.

The Pentagon announced that rather than giving legacy media a permanent home, it will start rotating these offices to new outlets every year.

NPR Responds

After the announcement was made, NPR, which is taxpayer-funded, responded to the shakeup.

It stated, “More than 40 million Americans depend on NPR for daily news about their communities and the world. This decision interferes with the ability of millions of Americans to directly hear from Pentagon leadership, and with NPR's public interest mission to serve Americans who turn to our network of local public media stations in all 50 states.

“NPR will continue to report with vigor and integrity on the transformation this Administration has promised to deliver. NPR urges the Pentagon to expand the offices available to press within the building so that all outlets covering the Pentagon receive equal access.”

Funny… why didn’t NPR ask for more office space when it had a home? The sudden interest in equality in terms of space is clearly due to the fact they were just bounced out of the Pentagon.

And Here Comes the Attack

Poynter took no time to attack Trump, posting an op-ed titled, “And so it begins — Trump’s attacks on the media.”

The piece goes on to say that Trump’s feared attacks on the media are now coming to “fruition.”

It continued that is not about fairness, but rather about having media in house that will give favorable coverage to the administration. It seems to forget that HuffPost is about as anti-Trump as it gets, so that argument just went out the window. Not to mention, all the booted outlets can still report on the Pentagon, they just no longer have an office there.

I have zero issue with this policy, but I would have liked to have seen one of the major channels get a spot, even as much as I despise them. I think it should be standard that NBC, ABC, or CBS always be in that loop. OANN is a complete joke, nothing more than a Trump cheerleading channel, and it has minimal circulation, so I think there were better options there as well. I have no problem with Breitbart or the New York Post getting a spot, especially the Post, which has had some of the most accurate reporting over the last eight years, even though nobody in the media will ever admit it.
