J.D. Vance reportedly helped push Trump's nominees through Senate committees

Many of President Donald Trump's Cabinet picks were successfully confirmed in the Senate without too much of an issue.

However, the ones who faced more of an uphill battle, usually from hesitant Republicans in the upper chamber, were reportedly helped along behind the scenes by Vice President J.D. Vance, according to Fox News.

Sources said Vance's "gift of gab" has become an invaluable tool in helping get some of the more controversial Trump picks through the Senate confirmation process.

Vance is reportedly viewed as an "honest broker" among Republicans and is seen as a sensible person who has Trump's agenda at top of mind while remaining realistic.

What happened?

Two of the most difficult Trump picks, Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., were reportedly helped to advance out of their respective Senate committees with Vance's help.

Fox News reported:

Both Director of National Intelligence (DNI) nominee Tulsi Gabbard and Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faced uncertainty ahead of key hurdles in the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and the Senate Committee on Finance, respectively.

The committees responsible for each of the two positions had several hesitant Republican senators, causing a major potential problem in advancing to a full Senate vote.

In an effort to lock down crucial support from resistant GOP senators, the operation behind the scenes to make that happen was considerable, and it included Vance's reassurance that ultimately helped seal the deal.

Vance reportedly spoke to the Republican holdouts several times in the days leading up to the committee votes, and his efforts clearly paid off. The vice president quashed any remaining concerns they had about the two nominees.

"I think he's been tasked with this role because of his preexisting relationship with us," one of the former GOP holdouts said.

The same senator reportedly said he particularly liked speaking with Vance because he seemed genuine, and listened more than he talked.

Protests inevitable

Democrats are likely already planning to protest the confirmation votes of both Kennedy and Gabbard, as both will likely advance to the final Senate vote needed to secure the confirmation.

There have already been several sit-in Democrat-led protests of other Trump picks who were far less controversial.

At the end of the day, as long as they ultimately get the votes and are confirmed, nobody will really care what Democrats whined about.
