Tom Homan wants AOC investigated after she hosted event advising illegals how to avoid deportation
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is known for her edgy social media content, but her latest stunt could land her in serious trouble.
According to Newsweek, AOC could soon find herself under investigation for "impeding law enforcement" if President Donald Trump's border czar Tom Homan has anything to do with it.
In a live webinar hosted by AOC last week, the New York progressive "Squad" member advised illegal aliens how to avoid deportation and advised them of their "rights" should they come into contact with federal immigration law enforcement officials.
The virtual event was titled "Know Your Rights With ICE" and was hosted through AOC's official Facebook page, according to Fox News.
She could be in trouble
It's unclear if there are plans for an investigation into the AOC-hosted event, but Homan made his thoughts on the matter clear, suggesting that she could be on the hook for impeding law enforcement.
"Impediment is impediment in my opinion," Homan said when he was asked if Ocasio-Cortez crossed the line with her virtual event.
Homan then indicated that he had reached out to the Department of Justice to determine whether or not a case should be opened against her for having such an event.
Newsweek noted:
Homan criticized the event and questioned whether it constituted obstruction of immigration enforcement. He claimed to have contacted the DOJ for clarification on whether Ocasio-Cortez's actions could be considered unlawful interference.
"I sent an email to the Deputy AG today...at what level is that impediment," Homan said.
He added, "Is that impeding our law enforcement efforts. If so, what are we going to do about it? Is she crossing the line, I'm working with the DOJ to find out. Maybe AOC is going to be in trouble now."
Social media reacts
Users across social media weighed in on Homan's thoughts on having her investigated.
