Pope hospitalized with more health issues
The last few months have not been good for the Pope in terms of his health.
This weekend, it was reported that he will remain in the hospital for a reported respiratory tract infection.
Pope is Sick
There were concerns about the Pope’s health after a recent interview on CNN.
CNN CEO Mark Thompson recently met with the Pope for a report and noted that the Pope was "mentally alert but struggling to speak for extended periods due to breathing difficulties."
His health issues have come up numerous times, but the Pope has always dismissed the concerns on this front and regarding his age, stating, "The Church is governed using the head and the heart, not the legs."
He has also not done himself many favors by sticking his nose into American politics, even more so with Trump back in office.
Long History of Problems
As we noted above, this Pope has had health issues for as long as I can remember.
Recently, in 2023, the Pope was hospitalized for bronchitis. Not long after that, he was back in the hospital again for abdominal surgery.
In 2021, the Pope had to undergo colon surgery, and he was admitted last year after having suffered a bout of the flu.
Late last year, it was reported that the Pope had suffered several falls, visibly injuring his face in one and hurting his arm in the other.
Not Your Business
I have been very vocal of the Pope, so his injuries get no empathy from me. As far as I am concerned, he is a hypocrite of the highest standard and repeatedly sticks his nose into our politics, especially on immigration, yet his entire world is protected by guarded walls.
To that point, the Pope recently issued a letter that was clearly aimed at Trump’s deportation policies, writing, “That said, the act of deporting people who in many cases have left their own land for reasons of extreme poverty, insecurity, exploitation, persecution or serious deterioration of the environment, damages the dignity of many men and women, and of entire families, and places them in a state of particular vulnerability and defenselessness.”
The idea that people who cross our border illegally are entitled to have a life in this country is idiotic. We have laws in place, so you do not get to selectively choose the rules that are followed and that are not.
Furthermore, people fail to grasp the economic repercussions of so many people entering the country during such a short period, which is why many states, such as my home state of Texas, are experiencing a housing crisis. Apartments that were renting for $1200 two years ago are now renting for nearly $2000 because there is such a premium now. So, when the Pope decides to knock down the walls around Vatican City and starts to provide rent-free accommodations for illegal immigrants, then he can start discussing his opinion of our country’s policies. Until then, keep it shut.
