Patel announces arrest of 8 Mexicans wanted for murder, drug trafficking

Kash Patel has been in his position for about a week, but he is already making some pretty big waves.

Patel just announced the FBI has arrested eight Mexicans who had been wanted on drug trafficking and murder charges.

Overhauling the FBI

Patel was easily one of the most controversial appointments made by Donald Trump, having resistance on both sides of the aisle.

He was confirmed 51-49, avoiding the need for a tiebreaker vote when Senator McConnell (R-KY) flipped his vote to a “yes” after having vowed not to support Patel in previous statements.

After being confirmed, Patel vowed to “rebuild” the FBI, stating, "I am honored to be confirmed as the ninth Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. My mission as Director is clear: let good cops be cops - and rebuild trust in the FBI. We will rebuild an FBI the American people can be proud of.”

He is not wrong. Trust in the FBI has dwindled in this country when it became apparent that rogue leadership had turned certain aspects of the agency into activists rather than law enforcement. I am at the front of the line hoping he can change that, as I have dozens of friends who worked for the agency past and present who are sick and tired of seeing the agency's image tarnished.

It's Starting

These days, it seems as though every time the FBI makes headlines it is because of them taking down someone in the political world, with the raid at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home being at the top of that list.

Patel just reversed that trend, announcing the arrest of a Cartel kingpin by the FBI and its law enforcement partners. Along with the announcement, Patel posted, “The FBI and our partners will scour the ends of the earth to bring terrorists and cartel members to justice. The era of harming Americans and walking free is over.”

Among those arrested was Rafael Caro Quintero, believed to have been the man behind the murder of DEA Agent Kiki Camerena. Quintero is a former FBI Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitive.

The rest of the list includes Alder Marin Sotelo, Jose Rodolfo Villareal-Hernández, Jose Angel Canobbio-Inzunza, Rodolfo Lopez Ibarra, Luis Geraldo Méndez Estevane, and Vicente Carrillo Fuentes. It’s rather shocking what the agency can accomplish when it is tasked with actually doing its job instead of activism.

Border Crossings Down

Border crossing numbers are already down, but arrests like this will enforce that message to stay away and come legally if you want to come to this country.

This week, the February numbers were announced, and in Trump’s first full month as president, illegal immigration is down by a whopping 94% over the same month last year. And keep in mind, Biden started to crack down on immigration last January as a lead up to the election.

Trump had just over 8,300 encounters in February, less than we saw at times in a single day when Biden was in office.

I love the fact that the border is getting locked down and our law enforcement agencies are going back to what they are supposed to do… fight crime. So far, so good.
