Biden administration accused of ‘cooking the books’

Just how accurate were Joe Biden’s numbers regarding immigration when he was in office?  

Well, if we are to believe a recent announcement by ICE, the numbers the Biden administration had released were bogus. 

Biden opens the borders 

After Joe Biden was elected, migrants were lining up on the other side of the border in anticipation of crossing and being released.  

Almost immediately after Biden took office, immigration numbers skyrocketed.  

Instead of 10,000 encounters in a week, we were seeing nearly that number in a single day. 

Over the course of Biden’s administration, we likely saw more than eight million illegal immigrant encounters at the border, and that is a very conservative estimate from the reports I have read.  

Illegals in the United States 

While the hard number under Biden is oft-debated, especially when it comes to including gotaways, studies have been conducted to estimate how many total illegals we have in this country right now.  

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) recently issued a report that there are now more than 18 million illegals in the country.  

That is a staggering 11% increase from the 2023 report, showing that the illegal immigration population in this country increased by 28.% since 2020. 

The report stated, "As of 2025, American population growth comes almost entirely from unsustainably high levels of immigration, both legal and illegal. 

Cooking the books 

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) just announced that under the Trump administration, the agency is already outpacing the total number of arrests for all of 2024.  

ICE Director Todd Lyons stated, "We have uncovered that the previous administration… was cooking the books on ICE data. They were purposely misleading the American people by categorizing individuals processed and released into the interior of the United States as ICE arrests." 

"A comprehensive review was done internally here with ICE. We found tens of thousands of cases that were recorded as arrests when, in fact, these instances were illegal aliens that were simply processed and released into the American communities.” 

When you consider this was an anchor of the 2024 election in terms of Donald Trump winning, this is going to be pretty hard for Democrats to justify, and it just may require some Biden officials to speak publicly on the matter before a committee. If the GOP wants to keep the House in 2026, this is the type of stuff they need to continue to uncover and call the Biden administration to account for in public hearings.
