The Doug Emhoff nightmare continues for Kamala Harris
There are some in the Harris camp who believe Doug Emhoff was the reason she lost the election.
I would not go so far as to say that, but he clearly had an impact, and a recent announcement by his law firm is not going to help Emhoff win over many of Harris’ loyal followers.
Strike One
For someone who lectured people about modern masculinity and respecting women, Emhoff’s personal life dropped a bomb on the Harris campaign.
The first issue was the affair that Emhoff had during his first marriage with the couple’s nanny.
The affair was not exactly a secret, but nobody had ever called out Emhoff on it until the Daily Mail report surfaced, then Emhoff had no choice but to acknowledge it.
He stated, "During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions. I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side."
Strike Two
The second report was far more harmful than the first, especially since the media bought into the idea Emhoff was the man that every other man should want to be.
That report outlines Emhoff allegedly striking his date in the face, in public, because he thought she was flirting with someone.
The incident was described by a friend of the woman, who stated, “It was something like 3 a.m. They were trying to get out of there and they both had been drinking. There was a gigantic line for taxis.
“She went up to one of the valet guys, offered him 100 Euros or whatever, to get to the head of the line. She told me she put her hand on his shoulder. Doug apparently thought that she was flirting, and came over and slapped her in the face.”
Strike Three
As if all that was not bad enough for Harris, now her husband’s new law firm is partnering with the Trump administration to offer pro bono work for Trump initiatives.
The White House announced that Willkie Farr & Gallagher is now committed to “Merit-Based Hiring, Promotion, and Retention” and “will not engage in illegal DEI discrimination and preferences.” The firm will also offer $100 million in pro bono work, according to the report.
After stripping security clearances from attorneys from two major firms, Trump stated he is getting no more resistance, on this front, adding, “They’re all bending and saying, ‘Sir, thank you very much.’ Law firms are just saying, ‘Where do I sign? Where do I sign?’”
So far, Trump has made deals with three major firms, totaling $240 million in pro bono work and assurances that DEI practices would not be followed, among other concessions. I guess that means Harris cannot get a job at Doug’s law firm now.
