Damage to Iran facilities confirmed after Trump statement
For most of the last few days, there has been a huge debate in the media and between the Trump administration about the damage done to Iran’s nuclear sites.
Well, now that most of the reports are in, this may shock you, but it would appear that the mainstream media got its initial assessment wrong.
Not Too Bad
The first report that surfaced was reportedly a leak from a low-level intelligence official who had an ax to grind, if we are to believe the White House.
While I referred to that report myself, I cautioned everyone that it was way too early to know how much damage was really done.
The report in question stated that while the entrances to two facilities had been caved in, the bunkers were still intact and operational.
Point being, if Iran could dig through the rubble and clear it, they could be back in action in as little as a few weeks or months.
Confirmed
The Trump administration pushed back right away, and Trump insisted that everything had been completely obliterated.
While the assessments thus far have not gone quite there, it is clear that Iran has a mess to clean up, and it is not going to happen anytime soon.
The Israel Atomic Energy Commission reported, "The devastating U.S. strike on Fordow destroyed the site's critical infrastructure and rendered the enrichment facility inoperable. We assess that the American strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, combined with Israeli strikes on other elements of Iran's military nuclear program, have set back Iran's ability to develop nuclear weapons by many years.
“The achievement can continue indefinitely if Iran does not get access to nuclear material."
Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Iran has been putting on a happy face over this, but even its government has stated that its facilities were badly damaged, but that is not what really tells me that Trump hit them hard.
Today, I read reports about mass arrests and executions taking place in Iran, reportedly due to what Iranian officials believe were leaks that contributed to the success of the attacks.
Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) Senior Iran and Financial Economics Advisor Saeed Ghasseminejad stated, "The regime convicts and imposes the death penalty based on trumped-up charges to spread terror among the Iranians. Meanwhile, Israel’s Operation Rising Lion has helped the public realize that the Iranian regime is a paper tiger that is weaker than ever.”
That, to me, sounds like a nation in panic, proving that Iran has nearly no leverage in this fight. My suggestion would be to negotiate a peace treaty right now before Israel gets really upset and decides to change the map in the Middle East to not include Iran.
