Crockett shock leader in Texas Senate primary race

The Democrat Party is devoid of a true leader right now, and it also has no rock star to lead the party into the next wave of elections.

This has opened the door to some radicals in the party, and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has jumped at the opportunity.

While she has not even announced she is considering a run for the Senate, in new polling, she is the leader among all possible Democrat candidates.

Back from the Brink

I just finished reading a piece in The Hill citing that Crockett is the one who can “bring the party back from the brink.”

I could not help but laugh that this is the face of the party.

Had it been the Jasmine Crockett who became a quick star in the Texas legislature, I could understand it, but she has morphed into this ridiculously fake “hood” character that drops F-bombs and tries to act like a tough guy.

If people knew how fraudulent she is acting, I bet they would drop her in a second, as she is literally mocking the very people who find her the most appealing.

Can Cornyn Lose

My regular readers know I am not exactly a fan of Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), but he has been much better with Trump in the White House than I expected.

I would not shy away from having new blood in the GOP for his seat, but this may not be the time. Having said that, at 73, we need to decide if we want to replace him now or in the next cycle, but he has to go soon.

In his last election, Cornyn had a solid win, winning his election by more than one million votes, which translates to nearly 10%. Cruz, even though the narrative was that he was ripe for an upset, also dominated his election, winning by more than 970,000 votes, which was 8.6%.

So, my question is that since we are still taking these elections rather handily, is now the better time to replace an aging Senator, even against a rising star in the Democrat Party?

We Like Jasmine

Like it or not, Crockett has a movement swelling behind her, and if she decides to run, she is going to be a problem for conservatives in Texas.

Without having announced, she is holding 35% of the vote, with Colin Allred, who lost to Cruz in 2024, in second place with 20%.

This is why I think we may need to look to replace Cornyn now. This is an off-election year, so the voters will not be as motivated to go to the polls, and by 2032, Crockett will either be in House leadership or looking to make a move to the Senate.

If we are going to get someone in and give them a record to run on, this looks like the ideal time to do it. The day Texas goes blue in the Senate, well, that is the day that we, as conservatives in this country, can start to panic about ever winning another presidential election.
