CA Supreme Court allows election referendum
I could be wrong, but I believe the California Supreme Court just admitted that it is corrupt.
This is going to take a minute for me to work through, so be patient with me.
The court just approved a referendum by Newsom to be put on the ballot for the election maps, but Newsom and just about everyone else in the Democrat Party has admitted this should be illegal.
Redistricting Plan
I have covered how gerrymandered California maps are, so that is now what this is all about.
This is about Newsom and Democrats claiming that Texas redrawing its maps is illegal.
In the next breath, Newsom stated that he would do the same thing to offset the gains made in Texas.
Everyone in the party is gushing over the idea of Newsom fighting back like this, but they are doing the very thing they are saying Texas is breaking the law over, so you just have to hang on to that for now.
We’re In
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) is now entering into the conversation, claiming that Democrats will go well beyond California to draw new lines.
Now, initially, you could excuse California to offset the Texas maps, but now Jeffries wants to do it in every state to ensure that Dems win the upcoming House elections. Again, he is saying what Texas is doing is illegal, but they are going to do it too.
Jeffries wrote, “Corrupt and desperate Republicans are scheming to gerrymander the congressional map in Indiana. Democrats will respond forcefully, just like we did in California.”
So, if Republicans are corrupt, how does the Democrats doing the same thing not make them corrupt?
Court Rules
The GOP challenged the move in California, and it was already heard by the California Supreme Court, ruling that they are good to go.
The stay requested by the GOP was denied, and Newsom took an immediate victory lap, responding, “48 hours later, this case has already been rejected. Keep em coming, @GOP. We'll keep winning.” But, if he wins, does that mean that Texas will win as well when its cases go to court?
More meaningful, if Democrats claim that the Texas gerrymandering is corrupt and illegal, but the California Supreme Court just allowed California to do the same, either the California Supreme Court is also corrupt, or what Texas is doing is legal. That is quite a conundrum created by the court, but it also shreds the argument being made by the Dems.
The bigger question here… will the mainstream media pick up on this narrative and call out Democrats, call out the California Supreme Court, or use this precedent to say what Texas is doing is legal? My guess, none of those scenarios will be explored, and Gavin Newsom will be hailed as a hero by the liberal horde.
