BLM leader confesses to conning donors
When Black Lives Matter (BLM) started to pop up on the scene, most of us thought it was an opportunistic scam to create divide and scam people out of money.
We were right on both fronts, and an activist tied to the group just confessed to the scam part.
The violent part speaks for itself after the organization created havoc in this country during the George Floyd rioting.
Hatred
We all saw the scenes play out in this country every time there was even a scent of police misconduct with a black suspect.
BLM never looked at the actions of the suspect, only the alleged abuse by police.
George Floyd was a perfect example. By no means am I saying that Floyd deserved to die on that street on that day, but there were a lot of circumstances that led to the outcome. He had a long record, he was using drugs, and he resisted police.
The man was made out to be a hero by BLM solely to create violence, and Trump knew it, calling the organization a “symbol of hate.”
Case dismissed
BLM was hit with numerous lawsuits during its height, and quite frankly, I was shocked when one of the fraud cases was dismissed in California.
At the time, AP reported, “A California judge has dismissed a civil lawsuit that grassroots racial justice activists from around the U.S. brought last summer against a foundation with stewardship of the Black Lives Matter movement’s charitable endowment worth tens of millions of dollars.
“Black Lives Matter Grassroots Inc., a collective of organizers, claimed Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation Inc. had raised donations off the work of city-based BLM chapter, then defrauded the public and shut activists out of decision-making.”
After the ruling was announced, BLM stated, “We have stayed true to our principles, philanthropic duties, and organizational focus despite countless blatant fabrications, misrepresentations, and innuendos of misdeeds lodged against us.”
I did it
Monica Cannon-Grant was the face of BLM in Boston, celebrated in the city for her work, but it was all one big scam. She just pleaded out to 18 counts of fraud-related crimes while operating Violence in Boston, a BLM affiliated activist group.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley stated that Cannon-Grant “repeatedly scammed multiple public financial programs and stole money donated by members of the public who believed their donations would aid in reducing violence and promote social awareness.
“Instead, Cannon-Grant used donations to satisfy her own greed, while falsely portraying herself as a legitimate nonprofit organizer. She betrayed the trust of everyone who donated and the public who supported her fraudulent charity.”
This is news to nobody who has followed these groups over the years, as even local communities were complaining that no money was coming into their neighborhoods from BLM. It was an opportunistic con, nothing more.
