ABC suspends journalist who has been critical of Trump

ABC’s Terry Moran had been hammering Trump and his administration officials for years, and it finally caught up with him.  

After a comment about Stephen Miller, the network said enough, and put Moran on suspension.  

2017 

Moran came after Trump right after he assumed office.  

For instance, after Trump’s inauguration, Moran commented on his speech, stating, "[I]t carries with it overtones from the 1930s when an anti-Semitic movement saying, ‘We don't want to get involved in Europe's war. It's the Jews' fault in Germany!’  

“Charles Lindbergh led them. It is a term, as he defined it his way, but the words carry ugly echoes in our history.” 

This seemed to be the beginning of a quest for Moran. 

It continued 

After that, Moran again posted a comment about Trump in 2018 that got people’s attention. 

He wrote about Trump’s possible funeral, stating, "First, he’s going to choreograph it. So, there might be more trumpets and fanfare... It will be the best presidential funeral ever. No one will ever have seen anything like that funeral.” 

He was clearly mocking Trump’s tendency to say that he is the only that can do something and that everything he does is unlike anything we have ever seen before.  

In 2021, he hit Trump again, comparing him to Hitler, posting, "[Trump] has the Republican Party as a personalized power like we haven't seen. It’s a caudillo, it’s a Caesar, it’s a Führer. We don’t see that in this country. We do now." 

Enough 

This time, Moran seemed to go too far, discussing both Trump and adviser Stephen Miller, stating, "Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He's a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate." 

The White House called the post “unhinged,” and it demanded that ABC News respond in kind, and it did, suspending Moran.  

The network stated, "ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others. The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards — as a result, Terry Moran has been suspended pending further evaluation.” 

We expect our news agencies to be unbiased, but that is clealry no longer the case. And when you have reporters that truly hate someone, like Moran clearly does Trump, there is little to no chance the American people are being told anything other than his personal beliefs. All I can say is that it is about time that a news agency stepped up to call this out.
