Actress Issa Rae cancels Kennedy Center shows after Trump takeover
You really have to love the excess drama created by liberals over the Trump presidency.
To that point, after Trump disbanded the board and took over as president, “Barbie” actress Issa Rae canceled her upcoming show for what she deemed was an “infringement on the values.”
The Trump Takeover
Trump is looking to make his stamp on the cultural scene, and he really rocked the boat by tossing the entire board of the Kennedy Center.
Trump replaced them with allies Second Lady Usha Vance, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, and deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino.
Richard Grenell was also inserted as the interim president to replace longtime president Deborah Rutter.
After appointing Grenell as a placeholder, Trump stated, “Ric shares my Vision for a GOLDEN AGE of American Arts and Culture, and will be overseeing the daily operations of the Center” and that the center would not put on “drag shows, or other anti-American propaganda.”
Gone
The firing of Deborah Rutter sent a shockwave through the woke world, and Rutter has finally spoken out about the move by Trump.
She stated, “The goal of the Kennedy Center has been to live up to our namesake, serving as a beacon for the world and ensuring our work reflects America.
“I depart my position proud of all we accomplished to meet that ambition. From the art on our stages to the students we have impacted in classrooms across America, everything we have done at the Kennedy Center has been about uplifting the human spirit in service of strengthening the culture of our great nation.“
With Rutter gone and all Trump allies on the board, a vote was taken to elect the next chair, which, of course, was Trump. Trump then announced, "President Donald J. Trump was just unanimously elected Chairman of the Board of the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. It is a Great Honor to be Chairman of The Kennedy Center, especially with this amazing Board of Trustees. We will make The Kennedy Center a very special and exciting place!"
I’m Out
With Trump and his people in place, Rae decided that she could no longer perform her upcoming show at the Kennedy Center.
She made the announcement on her social media account, stating, “Unfortunately, due to what I believe to be an infringement on the values of an institution that has faithfully celebrated artists of all backgrounds through all mediums, I’ve decided to cancel my appearance at this venue.”
She went on to announce that everyone who had a ticket for the event would receive a full refund, closing, “Thank you so much for understanding, and I hope to see you soon.”
I say good riddance. I am so sick and tired of the dramatics on the left over Trump winning this election. Actually, I believe most of America is tired of people who play pretend for a living lecturing everyone on what they should believe and how they should act. As far as I am concerned, she did everyone a favor by canceling this show.
