AG Bondi announces lawsuit against New York over its sanctuary city policies
President Donald Trump nailed all of his picks for his Cabinet, especially in selecting Attorney General Pam Bondi as the nation's top law enforcement officer.
According to the Daily Caller, she's barely been in her new office for a week and she's already making mountains of headlines, starting with announcing legal action against the state of New York.
On Wednesday, Bondi announced that the Justice Department "is filing a lawsuit against New York over its pushback against the Trump administration’s efforts to deport illegal migrants."
She took similar actions last week against the city of Chicago over the same concerns.
What's going on?
Bondi made it clear that her DOJ will not place illegal immigrants above the safety of American citizens, keeping in line with Trump's immigration agenda and then some.
"This is a new DOJ,” Bondi said. “We are taking steps to protect Americans, American citizens and angel moms."
"New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops today," Bondi added. "We sued Illinois. New York did not listen. Now you’re next."
The Daily Caller noted:
Bondi appeared at a press conference in Washington D.C. to discuss the allegations against officials in the Democratic state, including Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, and New York Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Mark Schroeder.
New York and Chicago both vowed to protect illegal aliens despite Trump's orders that cities comply with federal deportation initiatives.
DC added:
During the press conference, Bondi called out New York’s “Green Light Law,” which was passed in 2019 and allows “all New Yorkers age 16 and older to apply for a standard, not-for-federal-purpose, non-commercial driver license or learner permit regardless of their citizenship or lawful status in the United States.” The law allows those applying for a driver’s license or permit in the state to not provide a Social Security number to apply, noting the license will appear the same “regardless of the proof documents you provide when you apply.”
Cracking down on crime
Bondi also made it clear that criminal illegal aliens will not be tolerated.
"Violent criminals, gang members, drug traffickers, human smugglers will no longer terrorize the American people, and that is why we are here today," she said.
What a drastic change from the last administration, to say the least.
It'll be amazing to watch Bondi, with Trump's blessing, clean up our streets.
