Biden Hands Out Presidential Medal of Freedom Like Candy

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian award given by our government, but it has sadly turned more into a donor medal of late.

To that point, some of the recipients of the medal this week have more than a few people in this nation outraged.

The Medal

This medal is given out at the sole discretion of the president of the United States, but it is meant to have some meaning of distinction.

Prior to 1970, the honorees were actually selected by the Distinguished Civilian Service Awards Board.

That has obviously now changed, with the recipients being solely at the discretion of the sitting president.

Currently, President Barack Obama has awarded the most, having given 118 medals, with Bill Clinton in second place, handing out 89 of them.

Past Recipients

There are eight presidents who have been awarded the medal, so you can see the honor that this once held. Among the recipients from the Oval Office were John F. Kennedy (posthumously), Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush. Joe Biden received the award as VP from Barack Obama.

If you look at the recipients dating back to the Kennedy administration, these are leaders of industry, activists, historians, and astronauts that played a role in the success or the development of this country. More recently, the award has become a complete and utter joke.

For instance, Obama gave the award to Steven Spielberg, Gloria Estefan, and Barbra Streisand. Donald Trump gave the award to Roger Staubach, Tiger Woods, and Lou Holtz. All these people were impressive athletes or entertainers, but that is not what this award is supposed to be about.

Prior to this last round, Joe Biden gave the award to Simone Biles, Steve Jobs, Richard Drumka, Terese Romero, and Ralph Lauren. It just does not make sense to me.

Biden Outrages Americans

The latest round by Biden has really upset everyone, with Hillary Clinton and George Soros among the recipients. Denzel Washington also received the award, who I love as an actor, but he is only an actor. The man plays pretend for a living, and he gets the highest civilian award this country has to offer?

But I can live with Denzel getting the award, but Soros? Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT) hit the nail on the head, stating, “George Soros spent millions electing soft-on-crime politicians that let criminals wreak havoc in our major cities. Hillary Clinton abandoned our Navy SEALs in Libya.

“Joe Biden’s decision to give Hillary Clinton and George Soros the Presidential Medal of Freedom is a national disgrace.”

I would love to see this award go back to a committee for being awarded to give it the distinction it deserves. There should be some type of criteria here, not just a whim to award to donors and their sports and entertainment crushes.
