Biden Sets Landmines to Derail Trump Administration

As you are reading this report, Donald Trump is either about to be sworn into office or he has already taken the oath.

He comes into office having a lot of big promises to fulfill, but Joe Biden did his best to make sure he cannot fulfill those promises with numerous landmines to ensure Trump fails.

Protecting Illegals from Deportation

Donald Trump has vowed to have mass deportation from the first day of his administration, but that will not be easy for several reasons.

First, expect every move made by Trump to be challenged by activist groups in the courts, so this will have many of the deportations tied up in court for years.

Second, Joe Biden extended temporary protected status to nearly one million migrants before leaving office.

Trump has already stated that he will fight these orders by Biden, but that will be challenged in court as well. As I have stated many times, if Trump is actually able to deport about two million or so, we should consider that a success.

Banning New Off-shore Drilling Projects

Much of our economy is tied to energy, and Biden has done his best to make sure that the United States becoming energy independent again will not be easy.

Just before leaving office, Biden banned new offshore oil and gas projects, which Trump vowed to reverse with an executive order, but that will not be easy to do.

Biden issued the order using the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act of 1953, which gives a president wide authority to ban new projects, but it does not stipulate such an order can be reversed by another president.

Point being, Trump will have to litigate this, likely all the way to the Supreme Court, and I think it is unlikely that he would be successful in doing so. This means Trump will have to figure out another way to open more new projects because the primary areas have just about all been blocked by Biden.

Biden Spending Spree

Republicans have vowed to cut spending and decrease the national debt, but I highly doubt that will happen under Trump.

Trump has already stated that he wanted the debt ceiling raised for two years, so my hopes of decreased spending are not high. That is especially true when you consider how much aid was pledged to Ukraine by Biden on his way out the door, as well as Biden’s last run of student loan forgiveness.

Now, Trump has formed the DOGE agency, which is meant to find government waste and eliminate it, but in reality, most of these cuts would have to come through acts of Congress, especially in instances where Trump wants to dismantle agencies, such as the Department of Education.

The GOP has been trying to end the DoE since Reagan’s presidency, and it has never been able to successfully work its way through Congress. With only 53 GOP senators, that legislation would fail again, so while DOGE may come up with some recommendations, in reality, the committee will be powerfulless to enact them.
