Biden State Department official pleads guilty to embezzling $650,000+

Yet another scandal has hit the Biden administration, and this one is a doozy.

It just goes to show the lack of oversight and accountability that was taking place when Biden was in office.

How it started

While many disasters marred Biden’s time in office, the one that really comes to mind for me in terms of accountability was when the report broke that Biden’s Iran envoy, Robert Malley, had been placed on leave without pay.

According to the initial report, he has mishandled classified information, but the scandal ended up going much deeper, to the point that Malley was likely putting the interests of Iran first, as well as hiring other Iranian sympathizers to work in his office.

At the time of the report, Malley stated, “I have been informed that my security clearance is under review. I have not been provided any further information, but I expect the investigation to be resolved favorably and soon. In the meantime, I am on leave.”

The truly troublesome aspect of this was that Malley had also worked on the Iran portfolio during the Clinton and Obama administrations.

Austin’s disappearing act

Another big scandal was the sudden disappearance of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who reportedly was admitted to the hospital for a procedure without telling anyone.

At the time, The Hill reported, “Austin, who is 70, was hospitalized on Jan. 1, but nobody in the White House — not even President Joe Biden — knew of the fact until Jan. 4.

“The deputy secretary of Defense, Kathleen Hicks, who would stand in for him in an emergency, didn’t know until Jan. 3, and even then she didn’t know he was in the hospital. She was vacationing in Puerto Rico.”

Austin should have been relieved of duty on the spot, but Biden refused to hold him accountable. This was even more disturbing when you consider the events of the time and how this could have impacted national security had an attack taken place while he was under the knife.

Embezzlement

When Trump took over and appointed Elon Musk the head of DOGE, the concentration was on the waste and fraud in our government, which, of course, Dems pretend does not happen. Well, a report broke this weekend about a former Biden staffer in the State Department who just pleaded guilty of embezzling more than $650,000.

The staffer has been identified as Levita Almuete Ferrer, 64, who also goes by Levita Brezovic. Prosecutors stated that she had “admitted that she abused her signature authority over a State Department checking account between March 2022 and April 2024 while working as a Senior Budget Analyst in the State Department’s Office of the Chief of Protocol.”

They explained the scam, stating, “Ferrer attempted to conceal her scheme by using a common QuickBooks account at the State Department. After entering her name as the payee on checks in QuickBooks and then printing them, she often changed the listed payee in QuickBooks from herself to an actual State Department vendor. As a result, anyone viewing those entries in the QuickBooks system did not see Ferrer’s name as the payee on the checks unless they accessed an audit trail.”

So, please tell me again why we don’t need someone going over line items in every agency in our government. This is a case where no plea deal should have been accepted, and she should have been made an example of, but instead, she gets a plea deal and will likely see little, if any, jail time. It’s a complete and utter disgrace. We will find out for sure on September 18, which is her sentencing date.
