Biden Title IX Rules Blocked by District Judge
Joe Biden has had a significant battle in terms of changing Title IX rules to be more transgender-friendly.
He suffered another setback this week when US District Judge Danny Reeves ruled that Biden overstepped his authority in the latest round of changes.
The Fight
As I have stated before, Democrats love to make Republicans look like monsters on this front, but that is not the case.
In reality, Republicans have two major issues here. That would be protecting young children from aggressive transition treatments as well as protecting the safety and integrity of women’s sports.
When people are adults, they can do whatever they want with their bodies, but just because a biological man says he is a woman should not give him the right to play competitive sports against women, especially in combat sports or high-contact sports, such as ice hockey or lacrosse.
What has always baffled me on this front is that feminist groups who have worked forever to protect women’s rights appear to be all-in on allowing biological men to enter their world and dominate it.
Biden Title IX Changes
When the Biden administration submitted its Title IX changes, the report was something like 1,500 pages.
While the rules did not specifically address women’s sports, gender identity was tackled, and that is what set the wheels into motion by Republican attorneys general to challenge the changes.
This started in Tennessee, with dozens of red states eventually joining the case to fight the changes, all of which were being blocked in red states.
That case finally came to its conclusion, dealing Biden a massive loss on this front.
Turned on Its Head
Judge Reeves did not like the addition of gender identity being added to the rules. He stated, “As this Court and others have explained, expanding the meaning of ‘on the basis of sex’ to include ‘gender identity’ turns Title IX on its head.”
Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti commenting on the ruling, which, as I stated, started with his filing, He stated, “Because the Biden rule is vacated altogether, President Trump will be free to take a fresh look at our Title IX regulations when he returns to office.”
Sarah Kate Ellis, president and CEO of GLAAD, a leading LGBTQ+ advocacy group, was upset with the ruling, claiming that the students who are bullied the most in these schools need to be protected, and ending this rule will not help their case.
I know this is a controversial subject, but someone has to do the right thing here to protect women’s sports and young children. That is what this lawsuit just did, so now it will be up to Trump to update Title IX rules to further extend these protections and, hopefully, Congress can pass legislation to lock these changes in.
