Boebert lands gut-shot against Dems over definition of a woman
I have to admit, when Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) gets going, she can be very entertaining.
I think she is a complete and utter disaster as a congresswoman, but she does provide some good clips, and she had a doozie during a recent House session.
Supreme Court Justice Cannot Define a Woman
My ears went up on Ketanji Brown Jackson during her Senate confirmation hearings when she could not define a woman, something that Democrats seem to have a problem doing these days.
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) asked Jackson to define a woman, to which she responded, “I can’t.”
Jackson justified her decision by saying that she was “not a biologist,” at which point Blackburn came back, “The fact that you can’t give me a straight answer about something as fundamental as what a woman is underscores the dangers of the kind of progressive education that we are hearing about.”
The question was asked because Blackburn knew the court would be facing questions about transgenders in women’s sports, so it was relevant, but I guess Jackson will have to recuse herself from those cases since she is "not a biologist."
Biden Official Cannot Define a Woman
Next up is U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, who refused to define a woman while being questioned during a House Appropriations Committee hearing.
Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) asked Cardona, “Since Title IX prohibits discrimination between male and female to ensure that each gets appropriate funding, I think it's important the country sees that HHS [sic] understands the difference. So can you please define for me, what is a woman?”
Cardona responded, "Our focus at the department is to provide equal access to students, including students who are LGBTQ. Access free from discrimination.”
Clyde demanded for Cardona to define a woman, but Cardono sidestepped the question again, responding, "I lead the Department of Education, and my job is to make sure that all students have access to public education, which includes co-curricular activities. And I think you highlighted pretty well the importance of Title IX and giving students equal access, whether it's scholarship and facilities and participation as well."
Boebert is on Fire
This week the SAVE Act was on the floor, which is legislation to secure our elections, but now Democrats are claiming the legislation is oppressing married women. Their argument is that since most married women change their names, their birth certificate will not match their name, so they will not be able to get a valid ID to vote.
Now, anyone who knows anything about this process knows that it is utterly ridiculous, but it gets so much better. Rep. Laura Friedman (D-CA) said the new legislation is a "modern-day poll tax, targeting American women and low-income Americans."
Boebert found that defense amusing since the Democrat Party cannot actually define a woman, responding, "Bless my colleagues' hearts on the other side of the aisle, using women as a ‘gotcha’ for voting. I’ve never had to bring my birth certificate to prove that I was a registered voter. I have an ID that has a different name than my birth certificate. Since we're using women as bait here, maybe in the next round of debates they can explain to us exactly what a woman is."
That is the equivalent of a mic drop in the South, and I could not help but laugh. Like I said above, as far as a congresswoman goes, I think Boebert has been awful, and I would love to see the GOP get someone else into that seat, but she is amusing, so we may have to keep her around simply because she has no problem calling out Dems when they use stupid excuses like this.
