Bondi now facing Florida Bar complaint

Now that Donald Trump’s Attorney General, it was only a matter of time before Pam Bondi was attacked by the left.

That just happened in the form of a Florida Bar complaint charging her with “serious professional misconduct.”

Trump Nominates Bondi

Bondi was not Trump’s first choice for this position, but she was a far better selection than Matt Gaetz, who ended up withdrawing from consideration.

In announcing Bondi, Trump stated, "For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans — Not anymore.

"Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again."

Even Gaetz supported the nomination, stating, “She’s a proven litigator, an inspiring leader and a champion for all Americans. She will bring the needed reforms to DOJ.”

DOJ Being Politicized

Earlier this month, the complaints started coming in regarding the weaponization of the DOJ under Bondi and Trump, after Bondi had vowed, "The partisanship, the weaponization will be gone. America will have one tier of justice for all."

I can openly say that is still not true, as Trump has been pardoning former corrupt public officials and high-profile fraudsters, like the Chrisleys. It remains a DOJ that says anything goes if you know the right people, and I will never get behind these pardons.

Bondi, however, has no say in those pardons, but she is still taking heat from critics about the way she is running her office. For instance, former pardon attorney Liz Oyer stated, "I think what's happening in the Department of Justice right now is that it's being transformed into Donald Trump's personal law firm.

"The attorney general has made it clear that directions are coming from the very top, from the president, and she is there to do his bidding. That means pursuing enemies of the president. That means doing favors for friends of the president. The Department of Justice is essentially whatever the president wants it to be right now."

Complaint Filed

As I noted, with these criticisms, it was only a matter of time before someone came after Bondi, and it just happened in the form of a complaint with the Florida Bar.

A group of nearly 70 professors, attorneys, and former Florida Supreme Court justices filed the complaint, alleging “serious professional misconduct that threatens the rule of law and the administration of justice.”

Justice Department chief of staff Chad Mizelle responded, “The Florida Bar has twice rejected performative attempts by these out-of-state lawyers to weaponize the bar complaint process against AG Bondi.”

I suspect the Florida Bar will treat this the same way it treated the other complaints, and it will be nothing more than a blip on the radar for Bondi when all is said and done. Having said that, if I were Bondi, I would be getting in Trump’s ear because it will be very hard for her to prosecute fraudsters and tax cheats in the future if Trump continues to pardon them.
