Border crossings drop to historic low under Trump administration

Immigration was easily a significant factor in Donald Trump winning the most recent presidential election.  

Trump knew that from Day One, he would have to deliver on this promise, and he has.  

Biden by the Numbers 

Immigration is always a little tricky when discussing numbers because they can be easily twisted into just about anything you want, and Biden has been very guilty of this.  

Most estimates that I have seen would come out to be about eight to 10 million illegal encounters, but the real question that needs to be answered is how many have been released.  

From the reports that I have seen, the Biden administration released roughly three million illegals who are now awaiting court dates, but Biden’s system turned some of those illegals into asylum cases that would normally be declined (mostly through the CBP app).  

So, I will play it conservative here, just for the sake of argument, and say that roughly four to five million have been released, including gotaways. But even with those numbers, there is no denying the fact that, at times, we had nearly 10,000 illegals crossing the border daily. 

Dems Delusional 

Even with these large daily numbers, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (R-CA) still lied to the American people on this subject.  

When Trump was in office, there were less than two million illegal encounters at the border.  

Through September 2024, the Biden administration had 7.2 million encounters, but that does not include the gotaways.  

Yet, when Pelosi was asked about the immigration issues under Biden, she stated, "Fewer people came in under President Biden than came under Donald Trump." When she was asked to clarify her statement with facts, she did not comment.  

Numbers Significantly Lowered 

I thought Trump had a successful first term on this front, but the second term has been a pleasant surprise thus far.  

Since taking office, Trump has cut immigration by about 90% compared to the same period last year. And remember, that was after Biden decided to try to lock down the border because of the election. Those numbers were administration lows for Biden but still did not compare to Trump’s first administration.  

The New York Post recently ran a report on the significant change, providing better news for Trump. The report stated, “That puts the US on track to have the lowest monthly border crossings in at least 25 years. If the trend continues, the number of illegal migrants coming into the US could hit a level not seen since 1968, nearly 60 years ago.” 

Not only has Trump locked down the border, but now he is also sending people back over the border. While I have been critical of some of Trump’s appointments, I have stated from day one that I loved Tom Homan being the frontman of this operation. He is doing an amazing job, and I cannot wait to see him continue this quest to remove every single person who crossed our border illegally.
