Brennan could be facing perjury charges
When Barack Obama was in office, his CIA Director was John Brennan.
Reports are blowing up all over the place right now that Brennan could be facing perjury charges for testimony he gave under oath during a congressional hearing.
The case seems pretty open and shut to me, but will the Trump DOJ go after him?
The bombshell
A 2016 Washington Post report quoted Brennan as having “an intelligence bombshell,” with the article stating that it was a “a report drawn from sourcing deep inside the Russian government that detailed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s direct involvement in a cyber campaign to disrupt and discredit the U.S. presidential race.”
Common sense says that the bombshell was the Steele dossier.
Keep in mind, FBI analysts had discredited that report, as did multiple CIA analysts, yet Brennan heavily leaned into it.
Russian disinformation
We all remember the infamous letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials, including Brennan, to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story.
The funny thing about that is that not a single one of those officials personally examined the evidence, so they had no real way of knowing if it was authentic or not.
To me, this was election interference, and I would have revoked every one of their security clearances and attempted to bring them up on charges.
Not a single one of those officials apologized to the American people after the fact. Most of them actually doubled down that they would have done it again.
He lied
This all brings us to Brennan’s testimony before Congress, where he stated that the dossier “wasn’t part of the corpus of intelligence information that we had. It was not in any way used as a basis for the Intelligence Community Assessment that was done.”
With new leadership in charge, a review of the report by Brennan was done, and it found that when “confronted with specific flaws in the Dossier by the two [Russia] mission center leaders — one with extensive operational experience and the other with a strong analytic background — [Brennan] appeared more swayed by the Dossier’s general conformity with existing theories than by legitimate tradecraft concerns.”
That sure sounds like perjury to me, and Trump officials have access to all this information, so what are they going to do about it?
We are about to find out if the Trump intelligence and DOJ are part of the swamp or if they are dedicated to taking down the swamp. Based on the recent Epstein announcement, I won’t hold my breath.
