CA Democrat: Harris would likely clear the field if she enters gubernatorial race
There are a lot of rumors regarding the next move for Kamala Harris.
The belief is that she will enter the CA governor’s race, and if she does, one powerful Democrat believes it will clear the field.
Kamala Crash and Burn
I can say without hesitation that the presidential election was a major wake-up call for Kamala Harris.
Dems can cry racism and sexism all they want, but the reality of that race was that Harris was reminded that on a national scale, she has little appeal.
She was spotted a 4-point lead with only three months to go in the election, and she wound up getting crushed in the popular and Electoral College votes.
Let’s not forget, during the 2020 presidential race, Harris was considered a favorite, but she crashed and burned after the first debate when America finally got a really good look at her. She was out before the first primary vote was cast.
Clearing the Field
As much as the country appears to dislike Harris, the people of California seem to love her, and God bless them for it.
Harris needs to repair her image, and the best way for her to do that would be to get back to California and run for a state office, and she will clearly have the backing of the California establishment.
Former California Attorney General and state lawmaker Rob Bonta is among those who would like to see Harris run, stating, "Kamala Harris would be a great governor.” I am not sure what qualifies that statement, but that was not all Bonta had to say.
He later added, "I would support her if she ran. I’ve always supported her in everything she’s done. She would be field-clearing.”
Recovery Time
The first thing that Harris is going to have to do is damage control.
The FCC mandated that “60 Minutes” release the full, unedited version of her interview, and it was crushing for Harris, who was just uttering 50 minutes of word salad that had to be cut down to 20 minutes of air time just to make sense of it all.
Harris is a horrible interviewer, and her public speaking needs work, but she also has the benefit of running in California, where the liberal horde that dominates voting does not really care about someone making sense and being intelligent.
If I were Harris, if she really is planning on running, I would be hiring a debate and public speaking coach immediately, or she will never be able to run for office outside of that state again (which is probably a good thing for the country).
