Comer goes off on Biden White House doctor after taking declining to testify
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has been calling in former Biden officials to testify on the decline if Joe Biden’s mental health.
Comer was hoping to get some insight from Biden’s White House physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, but he took the Fifth and refused to testify.
Needless to say, Comer went scorched earth.
Taking the 5th
The interview was a closed-door interview, and it was good thing because this would have made great TV for Democrats and O’Connor would have been hailed as a hero.
As Comer fired question after question, O’Connor was a closed trap, just taking the 5th and refusing to say a word.
O’Connor’s attorneys stated, "This Committee has indicated to Dr. O'Connor and his attorneys that it does not intend to honor one of the most well-known privileges in our law - the physician patient privilege. Instead, the Committee has indicated that it will demand that Dr. O'Connor reveal, without any limitations, confidential information regarding his medical examinations, treatment, and care of President Biden.
"Revealing confidential patient information would violate the most fundamental ethical duty of a physician, could result in revocation of Dr. O'Connor's medical license, and would subject Dr. O'Connor to potential civil liability. Dr. O'Connor will not violate his oath of confidentiality to any of his patients, including President Biden."
The Statement
O’Connor’s attorneys did release a full statement on his refusal to testify, citing doctor-patient privilege for keeping mum.
It gave two primary reasons for his refusal:
“First, the physician-patient privilege and the physician's ethical duty of confidentiality require that Dr. O'Connor refuse to testify about any aspect of his care and treatment of President Biden.”
“Second, the pending Department of Justice criminal investigation leaves Dr. O'Connor no choice but to invoke his constitutional rights under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution to any questions posed by the Committee.”
Comey Unleashes
The funny thing about this is that Democrats are defending Biden’s doctor going mum while slamming Trump for not having all his full medical records released, as the hypocrisy once again runs wild (and Trump has no medical issues that we know of).
Comer went nuclear after the failed hearing, stating, “When Joe Biden’s doctor was asked under oath whether he had ever been instructed to lie about Joe Biden’s health, he pleaded the Fifth. When questioned under oath about whether he believed Biden was fit to serve, he again pleaded the Fifth.
“President Trump is right: this is the biggest scandal in Oval Office history.”
I said this the other day, and I am going to say it again… we are not going to get the truth about any of this until well after Joe Biden dies. Everyone knows he was unfit, but nobody wants to hurt his legacy or feelings while he is still walking around. When Biden passes, there will be big money to come out and tell the truth, and someone will break. And once that first drip comes over the wall, we all know the floodgates will be opened for the mad rush before the money train dries up.
