Cornel West Loses Bid for PA Ballot

It looks like Kamala Harris had dodged a bullet in Pennsylvania for the presidential election.

Cornel West just lost his bid to have his name on the ballot after taking the case to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

While West will not be on the ballot, Jill Stein and Chase Oliver will still be included as options.

Narrowing the Field

West is believed to draw far more from Harris than Trump, so it was no surprise to see Governor Shapiro and his Secretary of State go to court to block him from being on the ballot.

West maintained that the documents his office returned were those sent to him by state election officials, but the state said he filled out the wrong documents.

With the PA Supreme Court siding with the state, election officials have been given the green light to start printing ballots and mailing out the absentee and mail-in ballots.

Secretary of State Al Schmidt confirmed the ruling, stating, “Counties can now prepare their ballots to be printed, then begin sending mail ballots to voters who have requested one as soon as they are printed.”

Pennsylvania is a key Blue Wall state that is likely to be one of three states that determine the outcome of this race.

We really don’t expect to see much movement in traditional red and blue states, with Pennsylvania holding the most electoral votes among those three.

PA is allocated 19 electoral votes, Michigan will have 15, and Wisconsin has 10.

Both Michigan and Pennsylvania are virtual toss-ups at this point, but the numbers have been trending in Trump’s direction.

Harris is also still leading in Wisconsin, but again, the trend favors Trump.

Once these ballot issues get rectified, polling will be tightened up even more, so we should have a much better idea of where everyone stands by early October and be able to offer a more educated opinion on who is going to take this race.
