Cuban walks back comments about women around Trump
Mark Cuban made a big mistake last week while appearing in a remote interview on “The View.”
Cuban even made the women of “The View” wince when he implied women around Trump were weak, but now he is trying to take it all back.
They’re Not Intelligent
If Mark Cuban was trying to help Kamala Harris, he did a poor job of it.
While discussing Donald Trump, Cuban had stated, “Donald Trump, you never see him around strong, intelligent women. Ever. It’s just that simple. They’re intimidating to him. He doesn’t like to be challenged by them and, you know, Nikki Haley will call him on his nonsense with reproductive rights and how he sees and treats and talks about women. I mean, he just can’t have her around. It wouldn’t work.”
Even Joy Behar winced when he made the comment, knowing this one was going to create some blowback, but Cuban did not back down. He pushed this narrative multiple times.
Needless to say, there was immediate pushback on his comments.
Nasty Man
After I originally heard the comments, I hammered Cuban and dropped a list of half a dozen women off the top of my head who are very strong and intelligent women.
Then Trump hit him hard, stating, “I know Mark very well. He’s a very insecure guy. He can’t hit a golf ball more than 50 yards."
“He’s weak physically and mentally as far as I’m concerned, but I’ve known him for a long time,” he added.
Trump adviser Susan Wiles also chimed in, stating, “I’m told @mcuban needs help identifying the strong and intelligent women surrounding Pres. Trump. Well, here we are.”
Trump later discussed the incident, saying that Cuban had been hit by “women that make men look like babies because if you know many of the women that I deal with, that I have, and I could go over the list but the list is long, including the fact that I happen to be married to a rather strong woman who just right now happens to have the number one best seller in the whole wide world.”
Walking It Back
When even the left pushes back, you know you went too far, and Cuban offered the obligatory apology.
He posted on X, “When I said this during the interview, I didn’t get it out exactly the way I thought I did. So I apologize to anyone who felt slighted or upset by my response. As I said, it wasn’t about trump voters, supporters or employees. Current or former."
“And, I set myself up for the 6 sec soundbite. No excuses. Can’t nail every interview. My skin is thick enough,” he added.
I don’t buy it. You call tell when someone has an honest slip-up, and this was not it. Cuban had been among those cherry-picking comments by Trump to sensationalize them. He is a misogynist, and now the entire country knows it. Furthermore, put him in a room with someone like Kayleigh McEnany, and my money is on McEnany all day.
