Dem donors drying up amid choas in Democrat leadership
Going back to the days of Joe Biden being the Democrat nominee, the party has had a significant problem convincing donors to continue to support the party.
Democrats have lost major fundraisers, faith in leadership has been lost with Kamala's devastating defeat, and now left-wing activist groups are being cut off by the big-money Democrat donors until the party can get this all figured out.
It Started with Biden
The performance of Joe Biden during the presidential debate against Donald Trump was crushing for the party.
For the first time, donors finally seemed to realize that everyone had been lying to them about Biden's mental health, and the faucets were suddenly turned off. For instance, Abigail Disney, granddaughter of Roy O. Disney, who co-founded The Walt Disney Co., has been a major donor to the Democrat Party for years, but she was no longer going to give money if Biden was the candidate, which was part of the reason the party forced him out.
She was one of many donors who cut off the funding, stating, “I intend to stop any contributions to the party unless and until they replace Biden at the top of the ticket. This is realism, not disrespect. Biden is a good man and has served his country admirably, but the stakes are far too high.
“If Biden does not step down the Democrats will lose. Of that I am absolutely certain. The consequences for the loss will be genuinely dire.”
Major Fundraiser Bails on Democrat Party
That was just the beginning of the problems for Democrats. Not only were big donors bailing, but fundraisers who had delivered dozens of donors and tens of millions for the party for the election were bailing, including Lindy Li, who was very vocal about the problems in the party.
When Li dared to criticize Harris and decided she was leaving the party for the blatant lies she had been told, the hate directed at her from Democrats was despicable.
She explained, "This past week has been harrowing for me. This Saturday, I went on ‘Fox & Friends’ and I said ‘Democrats have a stench of loser hanging over them.’ As soon as I said that, there were boycott campaigns against me. Unblock, unfollow campaigns."
She later added, "They're calling me a spy for the regime that killed my great-grandfather and these are the people who call themselves the social justice warriors. They're going headfirst into racism anytime someone dares to disagree with them. I want to be a part of the team that says men are men and women are women and men shouldn't play in women's sports."
Cutting Off Activist Groups
Rather than get the message sent to them by the results of the 2024 election, many Democrats are continuing to double down on the bad orange man narrative and declaring a "constitutional crisis" every time a microphone gets stuck in their face.
The donors did not want to hear that, so they are once again closing their checkbooks until party leadership figures out a new direction.
Alexandra Acker-Lyons, a political consultant who works with Silicon Valley donors, stated, “No one is giving until they see a plan for how we are going to better navigate this unprecedented situation and stop acting like this is a normal administration."
All of this is great news for conservatives because Democratic party leaders like Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y) seem more interested in headlines than in actually doing something to right the ship. New leadership, like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), has yet to find his groove due to Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (CA) continuing to stick her nose in leadership business. As long as that continues, the momentum is on the right.
