Dem Senators charge El Salvador for collusion with Trump administration

Democrats love their buzzwords, and they have just revived an oldie but a goodie.

Senate Dems are now contending that El Salvador colluded with the Trump administration and it must now be held accountable.

Deport Them

In April, the Trump administration started to get creative with how it wanted to deal with some of the more nefarious illegal immigrants in this country.

The administration started to work out a deal with El Salvador to house some of our illegal immigrants.

The idea was that gang members and hardened criminals would be deported to El Salvador and imprisoned there.

Trump claimed this was a no-brainer decision, as it was going to cost the country pennies on the dollar compared to what it would cost to house the prisoners here. He later sent planeloads of prisoners to El Salvador, just as the deportations were about to be litigated.

Contempt

Like every other order that Trump has issued on the immigration front, this order was fought by activists and Democrats.

The case would make U.S District Judge James E. Boasberg a household name, as he became a savior to the liberals and public enemy number one to conservatives.

Even though Boasberg ordered the immigrants to be brought back, Trump defied him, with Boasberg eventually stating that there was enough to proceed with possible contempt charges against members of the administration.

In his ruling, in part, he wrote, “The Constitution does not tolerate willful disobedience of judicial orders — especially by officials of a coordinate branch who have sworn an oath to uphold it.”

 Punish Them

Now, Senate Democrats want to hold El Salvador responsible for its actions, which included refusing to send prisoners back, literally laughing at the order by Boasberg.

Senator Van Hollen (D-MD), the same Van Hollen who had lunch with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, now charged with human trafficking, stated, "We must hold Bukele and his cronies accountable for these wrongful actions as well as for the gross violations of human rights they are committing in El Salvador.

"We must send a clear signal that these injustices are unacceptable and must end.”

This is an exercise in futility because the measure will never get passed in the House, let alone Donald Trump signing it, not to mention it is unlikely to come close to passing in the Senate. This is nothing more than theater for Van Hollen to grab a few more headlines he can use in campaign ads.
