Democrat Senator tied up in dark money conspiracy

One of the missions of DOGE was to find fraud, waste, and corruption.

What Musk has also uncovered is a staggering amount of money getting funneled to family members of Congress, and at least one of those cases has a Democrat member of the Senate running for cover after a watchdog filed a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee.

DOGE Strikes

One of the first targets of DOGE was USAID, where Musk found out that our tax dollars are being funneled into all kinds of questionable programs.

This would include a huge list of partisan funding for Democrat woke programs.

Musk also believed he found funding that was going to organizations linked to terrorist groups.

The cream of the crop, however, was money that was being funneled to organizations that ultimately led back to family members of Congress and prominent political families.

The Trail

The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) recently uncovered a money trail that led back to Senator Whitehouse (D-R.I.).

Since 2008, Ocean Conservancy has received more than $14 million in federal grants.

As it so happens, Senator Whitehouse’s wife, Sandra, is the president of a consulting firm called Ocean Wonks LLC, which has received funding from Ocean Conservancy. According to the report, she was also directly employed by Ocean Conservancy at one point.

Ocean Conservancy has also paid Ocean Wonks LLC directly for services. This is important because Senator Whitehouse voted for legislation that awarded that money to Ocean Conservancy.

Corruption

FACT is now asking for an investigation into Whitehouse by the Senate Ethics Committee, which is more or less asking criminals to investigate their buddies. In fact, Judicial Watch tried to get Whitehouse on this exact charge before, and the committee dismissed the complaint.

Brett Tolman, former U.S. attorney and executive director of Right On Crime, stated, "This is the height of hypocrisy. Sen Whitehouse is a former U.S. attorney and the self-proclaimed watchdog of dark money.” Whitehouse has called this a partisan witch hunt by the GOP, pointing to the fact that a similar complaint against him had already been investigated and dismissed.

These ethics committees are part of the problem. I say get rid of the committee and assign an outside committee to investigate these claims. Let me ask you this… when was the last time an ethics committee investigation resulted in a serious penalty against a member of Congress? Or better yet, the percentage of complaints that result in something more than a censure?

Ask me if I think this is wrong or corrupt, and I will say 100%. Ask me if I think the problem will ever be fixed, and will say absolutely not because people on both sides of the aisle are doing it, including members of the committee, which is why they will never hold anyone accountable.
