Dems starting to fold to pressure to endorse Mamdani
When Zohran Mamdani won his primary election, most Democrats were hesitant to endorse him. AOC went ballistic that nobody was jumping on his bandwagon, but that appears to be going in the wrong direction.
Now less than two months away from election day, Dems are folding, and they are, in turn, applying more pressure to the Dems who have not yet come on board.
AOC loses it
As we noted, the election is less than two months away, and Mamdani has failed to land the big fish in Congress from New York.
She went off on the likes of Senator Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Jeffries (D-NY), stating, “We have a Democratic nominee. Are we a party who rallies behind our nominee or not?”
AOC continued, “Because what we do is we use our primary to settle our differences, and once we have a nominee we rally behind that nominee.
“I am very concerned about the example that is being set by anybody in our party … if an individual doesn’t want to support the party’s nominee now, it complicates their ability to ask voters to support any nominee later.”
Spineless
Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), who enjoys cozying up to illegal immigrants allegedly tied to notorious gangs as well as alleged human trafficking, is now calling out his fellow Democrats for not endorsing the socialist.
He stated, “Many Democratic members of the Senate and the House representing New York have stayed on the sidelines.
“That kind of spineless politics is what people are sick of. They need to get behind him and get behind him now.”
Well, they know that if Mamdani wins and his policies bankrupt New York City, they take the hit, which is why they are so hesitant to back him.
Falling in Line
Governor Hochul was among the Democrats who had decided to sit this one out, but she finally caved to endorse Mamdani.
She stated, “The question of who will be the next mayor is one I take extremely seriously and to which I have devoted a great deal of thought.
“Tonight I am endorsing Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani.”
Her endorsement will likely get other Democrats to fall in line as well, but it also resulted in Trump threatening to revoke public funding for New York. Again, however, that is likely an empty threat because, legally, Trump cannot permanently withhold public funding that has been approved by Congress.
