DOGE cuts HHS funding that included a museum exhibit for Anthony Fauci
Elon Musk and his Department Of Government Efficiency are doing incredible work and already saving U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars, with that total only set to rise over the course of the next four years.
Much of the department's work is also extremely satisfying, including the most recent move that involved shutting down funding that would have went toward a museum exhibit about Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Fox News reported that DOGE canceled funding for some $180 million in contracts under the Department of Health and Human Services.
One of those contracts was worth $170,000, and it was for a Fauci exhibit at the National Institutes for Health (NIH).
What's going on?
Musk's DOGE outfit announced the massive cut at HHS as their latest efforts to slash government waste, and a tribute to Fauci was one of the contracts that was zapped. They revealed the cuts in an X post.
"In the past 48 hours, HHS canceled 62 contract [sic] worth $182 million," DOGE announced in a Friday social media post.
It added, "These contracts were entirely for administrative expenses – none touched any healthcare programs. This included terminating a $168,000 contract for an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH Museum."

Fox News noted:
Seemingly no federal agency has been excluded from the reach of DOGE, with HHS being just the latest in a string of targets meant to eliminate waste from the federal government.
The Fauci exhibit was booked to be finished by July 2025, but has now been scrapped along with $182 million in other HHS administrative expenses.
Musk and DOGE were cheered on across social media for making the cut.
Social media reacts
There was no shortage of reactions to DOGE cutting Fauci's museum exhibit.
"His only museum should be in his prison cell," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "This sounds like bad fiction! Unbelievable what those people have been doing with taxpayer money. Thank you So much Elon and D.O.G.E. for helping to save our country."
DOGE is not messing around, and no government agency is safe at this point.
