DOGE Given access to 3 federal agencies

The struggle is real for Elon Musk and DOGE, but he got some good news recently.

After being blocked multiple times for access to federal agencies, a ruling has been issued that will give Musk access to three government agencies, likely sending a wave of panic through the Democratic Party.

Blocking Musk

Musk had been at his new post for just about a day when he started reviewing line items from government agencies.

At the top of the hit list was USAID, an agency that gets nearly $40 billion to spend every year, but most people had likely never even heard of the agency, let alone understood how its money was spent.

Musk started to peel the layers back a bit, exposing millions of dollars of waste, so Dems did what they do best... they took the administration to court to try to block Musk and DOGE from having access to the checkbooks.

Initially, they were successful, with U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer blocking access.

Not Elected to Office

The judiciary aside, we have 537 elected members of office in this country, that being 100 Senators, 435 members of the House, and a president and vice president.

Yet, the attack angle that Democrats chose to take against Musk is that he was not an elected official. Notice how Democrats nor Republicans took this approach when Joe Biden was cutting Trump programs or spending money.

Leading the charge was Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who has repeatedly called for the books to be open to the public in the past. But now that it has happened, she is saying something completely different. For instance, after Musk started to expose the waste, she stated, “Elon Musk is trying an end-run around Congress to try to sideline the cops on the beat so that he and a handful of billionaires can do whatever they want.”

We should note, that Elon Musk does not have the final say in any cut, as Trump has made that quite clear. He is there to make recommendations to Trump, yet Warren continues to make this sound as though it is quite the opposite, stating, “Elon Musk is operating as co-president of the United States. Elon Musk may try to hide his conflicts, but there are enough conflicts right out there in full view of the public to tell us he should not be allowed to make any decisions about the direction of this government.”

Elon Gets the Win

On Friday, Musk finally got a big win for DOGE, as U.S. District Judge John Bates, who was appointed by Justice Roberts after initially being appointed to the bench by George W. Bush, ruled that Musk can have access to the financials of three different agencies.

The Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau must now open their books to DOGE.

Judge Bates wrote, "Plaintiffs have not shown a substantial likelihood that [DOGE] is not an agency. If that is so, [DOGE] may detail its employees to other agencies consistent with the Economy Act.”

To be clear, a president can create an agency via Executive Order, just as Kennedy had done with USAID during his presidency. Preferably, an agency is created or later codified by Congress, but that is not required. Personally, I would love to see Republicans attempt to codify the agency just to get every Democrat on record as not wanting to be held accountable to the American people for the spending of our tax dollars.
