DOGE recovers $1.9 billion in lost HUD money

Elon Musk’s DOGE has been on a tear ever since Donald Trump took office, and that is not likely to stop anytime soon.  

In fact, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has Musk to thank for finding $1.9 billion in funds that were apparently misplaced during the Biden administration.  

DOGE Exposes Massive Waste in Government Spending 

One of the first agencies that DOGE took on was USAID.  

According to the DOGE report, it exposed hundreds of millions in what most conservatives would consider “wasted” spending, such as programs on LGBTQ+ comic books, operas, and musicals. 

Now, I have looked into some of these claims, and while they are close, I really wish they would have dug into the direct funding a bit more to trace it all the way back. For instance, the comic book was not a “transgender comic book” in Peru as the administration claimed, but a comic book that featured a gay student.  

Regardless, the spending was clearly to push a woke agenda, and I do not believe any American taxpayer funds should be spent to push a specific agenda. Every penny should benefit every American, not a political agenda.  

More DOGE Findings 

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was hit by a DOGE audit, with Musk reportedly finding $20 billion in wasted taxpayer money.  

EPA administrator Lee Zeldin stated, "An extremely disturbing video circulated two months ago, featuring a Biden EPA political appointee talking about how they were ‘tossing gold bars off the Titanic,’ rushing to get billions of your tax dollars out the door before Inauguration Day.”  

The gold bars were representative of our tax dollars and the Biden administration knew it was wasting money, but it was apparently more interested in spending the cash before Trump took over. 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) also reportedly spent $59 million in costs to care for illegal immigrants, with $19 million going directly to pay for hotel costs, with the remainder of the money being used for security costs and food.  

HUD Drop Billion Dollar Bombshell 

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner recently announced that DOGE had worked its magic in his department as well, finding nearly $2 billion that the Biden administration reportedly lost track of somehow.  

The money had apparently been earmarked for financial services “but were no longer needed.” 

This inspired Turner to launch his own version of DOGE within the department that has been tasked with creating more effective spending and efficiency. Turner stated, "HUD will be detailed and deliberate about every dollar spent to serve rural, tribal and urban communities. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, we are no longer in a business-as-usual posture, and the DOGE task force will play a critical role in helping to identify and eliminate waste, fraud and abuse and ultimately better serve the American people.” 

As I have stated in other reports, I love what Musk is doing, but I really want him to take more time before he makes these announcements to ensure they track the funding completely and not make knee-jerk announcements because it will come back to haunt them. The media already does not believe the reports, and if they are able to find even the smallest discrepancies, it will take away from the work that Musk and DOGE are doing to expose all this fraud.
