Donald Trump Doubles Down on Mass Deportation on Day One
Immigration is and has been a vital issue for Donald Trump and Republicans for much of the last two decades.
During the election cycle, Donald Trump vowed to mass deport illegals from the country, and now he and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) have vowed to follow through on that promise.
The Promise
During the early part of this election cycle, Donald Trump promised his supporters that as soon as he took office, one of the first things he would do upon taking office would be a mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
During one rally, Trump stated that it would be the “largest deportation operation in history,” adding, “We have probably close to 20 million people that came in from all parts of the world. They’re gonna have to be gone.”
When Speaker Johnson was asked if he would support such a move, he confirmed that if Republicans hold the House, which they are now expected to do, he would support the agenda.
Johnson stated, “We will be dealing with this for decades to come. President Trump has said we want to start the largest deportation effort in history. It’s needed. We need to find all these dangerous people, criminals. They’ve emptied out prisons in Central America and sent them all over the border.”
Trump Doubles Down
During the waning days of the election, Trump has not backed off from this, and he made it clear after winning the election that getting immigration under control is a major priority once his bags are moved back into the White House.
Trump even stated that he would be using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to support the removal.
This legislation allows a sitting president to authorize any male over the age of 14 who came from an “enemy country” to be arrested, relocated, or deported. This law has only been activated three times in the country’s history, and it was always during a war. That is kind of appropriate, as Trump regularly compares this to an invasion of our country.
Trump stated, “On day one, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history. Gotta get the criminals out. I will rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered, and we will put these vicious and bloodthirsty criminals in jail, then kick them the hell out of our country as fast as possible.
“And to expedite removals of Tren de Aragua and other savage gangs like MS-13, which is equally vicious, I will invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.”
It’s Happening
As long as Republicans hold the House edge, Speaker Johnson has again assured everyone that Trump’s deportation operation will be taking place, but Johnson has tempered down Trump’s numbers just a bit, stating, “There’s about 4.5 million who would be the first priority for that, people who’ve already committed crimes.”
After the election results were confirmed and Trump was officially declared the winner, campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed this is happening, stating, “Trump will begin operations to deport millions of undocumented immigrants when he starts his term, campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday morning. He’ll launch the ‘largest mass deportation operation’ of undocumented immigrants on day one.”
Some people get squeamish talking about this, but I am not one of them. I would even go to the point that anyone who entered this country illegally over the last four years will be sent back and never permitted to enter this country again. If you want a deterrent to stop people from crossing our border illegally and circumventing our immigration laws, I think that would have a major impact, and I would 100% support it.
