Facebook fires nearly two dozen workers for leaking information

Facebook has had quite the run over the last few years, having gone from openly censoring conservatives to pointing the finger at the White House to vowing it would no longer censor.

Now, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has announced that nearly two dozen employees were fired for leaking confidential information, showing that Zuckerberg is quite concerned with not getting on the bad side of Trump again.

The White House Made Me Do It

My regular readers have all heard my story about being censored by then-Twitter and Facebook. At one point, we had millions of followers on Facebook, but our posts were barely being seen.

When COVID took place, it became apparent that Facebook was really locking it down, which Zuckerberg then blamed on the White House pressing his platform.

In a letter to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Zuckerberg stated that Biden’s White House had “repeatedly pressured” him to block “certain COVID-19 content including humor and satire.”

The White House responded to his letter, stating, “When confronted with a deadly pandemic, this Administration encouraged responsible actions to protect public health and safety. Our position has been clear and consistent: we believe tech companies and other private actors should take into account the effects their actions have on the American people, while making independent choices about the information they present.”

Won’t Happen Again

As the Trump inauguration neared, Zuckerberg was clearly trying to make nice with Trump and MAGA.

He stated that his platform had engaged in “too much censorship,” but he would now “restore free expression.”

Facebook‘s censoring went well beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, however. As we all know, then-Twitter and Facebook had both shut down the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 election, believing it was Russian misinformation.

The only outlet that ever tried to verify the laptop at the time was the New York Post, but after 51 former intelligence officers declared the laptop having all the signs of a disinformation campaign (mind you, not a single one of them examined the laptop for its authenticity), the story was dead. Only after the election took place did the mainstream media investigate and eventually authenticate the laptop.

You Are All Fired

In his continued effort to get Facebook back on the right track, Zuckerberg is finally dropping the hammer on staffers, recently announcing that nearly two dozen workers were fired for leaking information.

Meta spokesperson Dave Arnold stated, “We tell employees when they join the company, and we offer periodic reminders, that it is against our policies to leak internal information, no matter the intent.

“We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect there will be more.”

From my experience, people leak information because they are unhappy with a policy and are hoping to have the public pressure the company or individual to change the policy. This move by Zuckerberg to terminate these employees makes me think that will no longer be the case. Leak the information, you no longer have a job. Finally, there is some accountability for their actions.
