FEMA supervisors terminated over anti-Trump bias
During the Hurricane Milton response, reports surfaced that some FEMA supervisors had been directing staff to avoid Trump-supporting homes during the recovery effort.
It has just been announced that several supervisors from FEMA have been terminated as a result of the investigation into those claims.
Hurricane Milton
Hurricane Milton formed on October 5 and lasted for about a week, devasting parts of our country.
In the United States, the hardest hit areas were Florida and Georgia, with homeowners seeing homes wiped away or massive loss due to the flooding that ensued.
During the recovery and relief effort, reports surfaced that FEMA field workers were being told to skip over homes that had signs supporting Donald Trump for president.
The report stated that this policy was featured in a “best practices” memo sent to FEMA employees.
Horrified
Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Deanne Criswell was called before Congress to testify, but she seemed to make it appear as though this was limited, and not widespread.
While testifying, she stated, “The actions of this employee are unacceptable, and it is not indicative of the culture of FEMA, and I do not believe that there is a widespread cultural problem.
“I have directed ongoing investigations, working with the (Homeland Security inspector general), working with the Office of the Special Counsel, and if we find any other acts of similar behavior, we will take appropriate disciplinary measures.”
After being pressed by Republicans, Criswell said she would request an IG investigation into the matter, and if needed, more employees would be disciplined.
Terminations Announced
Reports broke late this week that FEMA had fired three more supervisors related to the investigation into the anti-Trump bias during the recovery efforts, showing that this was not just “one rogue employee,” as Criswell initially thought.
Cameron Hamilton, the current acting administrator of the agency, announced the decision, stating, “[I]t is essential that the entire workforce understand that this incident was reprehensible, and this type of behavior will not be tolerated at FEMA. Further, in accordance with my commitment, and that of President Trump and [Homeland Security] Secretary [Kristi] Noem, to ensure that Americans receive impartial assistance from FEMA, I have directed a comprehensive additional training for FEMA staff to reinforce that political affiliation should never be a consideration in the rendering of assistance.”
It was further stated, “I’m pleased to see that FEMA has terminated four individuals as a result of the agency’s disgusting discrimination against Trump supporters in the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton last year. This unjustifiable behavior should never be allowed to fester or run rampant in any organization — let alone a federal agency that is designed to serve the needs of the American people.”
This is just one more “Trump” issue that the media did not buy into that has proven to be right after further investigation. And people wonder why Trump wants to fire everyone that worked during the Biden administration. These people are activists, and there is simply no room in our government for that nonsense.
